This
novel takes place in North Africa in the countries contained in the
Maghreb. An extremely dangerous area overrun with dangerous
fanatics who are bent on restoring the Caliphate, which is
the dream of having a global Muslim empire. These people
will use anything to achieve their goals including paid killings and
terrorist revolutionaries to get to their final purpose.
Steve
Church, who is a United States citizen visiting Paris is recruited by
the CIA to work undercover and discover this group. Also, one
of the leaders of the extremists is a man called Kahlil, once a
schoolmate of Steves. Kahlil, who went to school in the west is
a superior bad guy. There is nothing he won't do to get where
he wants to go.
Steve goes to North Africa,
accompanied by a young woman, Kella, who is part of his CIA cover to
infiltrate the terrorists' desert headquarters. This is an
adventure that is sure to change the political maneuvering of the
Muslim group. Steve and Kella are taken prisoner by Kahlil's
forces while the terrorists try and get control of a powerful weapon
of mass destruction. While the battles rage Steve and Kella are
planning their escape.
Obviously, the author, knows his
subject and is a very clever writer to boot. Mr. Le Gallo tells
us what is going on in the hazardous world of these leaders who have
agendas that boggle the mind. The author tells us why these
fanatics must be reined in before they go too far. Of course,
they already have in some cases. And, the book also tries to
give us some insights of how our intelligence community can do the
job of rounding up these terrorists. The Caliphate is
fiction but reads like a non-fiction book. They would like to
take over the world from one end to the other and have struck deadly
blows to the innocent many many times already with tactics that most
armies would not abide. Sadly, these groups exist and, not
having a care for human life, will strike again.
This is
a story of schemes too terrifying to comprehend. But, you
cannot reasonably deny that they exist.
