Kudos to Dan Goldman, one of bookpleasures' reviewers who has recently received the K.M. Hunter award for music.

K.M. Hunter awards are given to Ontario, Canada residents who have completed their training, begun to produce a body of work and are starting to make a significant mark in their field. Given at a critical moment in the artists’ careers, the awards are a means of encouraging their craft and propelling them to the next level.

Since the awards were created in 1995, 83 artists have received awards totaling over $500,000.

The Ontario Arts Council Awards Office administers the nomination process for the K.M. Hunter Artist Awards. OAC juries nominate candidates from a selection of English language OAC project-based granting programs. The K.M. Hunter Charitable Foundation convenes six juries to select the winners of the awards. The awards are financed by a gift from the K.M. Hunter Charitable Foundation to the Ontario Arts Foundation.

In addition to writing and performing his own material, Dan plays regularly with Snowblink and Great Aunt Ida. He's been a member in the Mia Sheard band, Justin Haynes' John School, Tusks, Maps of the Night Sky, Breaking Sounds, and Kitchenmusik. He's also created music for modern dance choreographers Jenn Goodwinn, Sara Doucet, Louis Laberge-Cote and Kathleen Rea as well as multi media producer/architect Filiz Klassen. Bookpleasures's New Look

Hi Bookpleasures' followers:

Over the past several weeks I have been very busy redesigning bookpleasures.com as well as recruiting new reviewers and writers. You will notice some new sections including a very interesting section on writing techniques and marketing your books. The writers who contribute to this section are very well-experienced and their tidbits of information should prove to be very helpful.

If you are wondering what happened to all of the reviews and interviews that have been posted on the older edition of bookpleasures.com,  these have been archived. You can access all of these reviews and interviews by clicking on the archive sections that appear at the top of the opening page or at the left hand side of the page.

Incidentally, if you wish to join our international community, just drop me a line at bookpleasures@gmail.com.

Although there isn't any monetary compensation, you will receive complimentary books. In addition, this is a great way to network and promote yourself and/or your own book.
