A whirlwind of a novel that is sure to set any reader's pulse racing!
The Awakening is the
second book in Dana Claire's ‘Blood-Lite trilogy’, about a
teenage girl named Beatrice Walker who discovers that her biological
father belonged to a race of alien beings called Ferroeans.
The second book in the series jumps into the action right where the first one left off, with Cash and Beatrice traveling to a safe house to rescue Cash's brother, Ashton who has been in exile for many years.
The couple need Ashton in order to help bring back Cash's girlfriend, Sera from the death-like state that she is being held in.
At first, Beatrice is somewhat amused by Ashton, but soon she discovers that she may have a connection to him that is even stronger than her connection to Cash, and that may combine with her destiny to save both Earth and Ferro.
Between Ashton, Sera's awakening and the sinister Department of Alien Affairs tracking their every move, Beatrice and Cash's relationship may be in more trouble than they thought and may even be over before it really gets started.
Anyone who read Dana Claire's first Blood-Lite book, ‘The Connection’ will enjoy this one even more!
I loved how this book expanded and improved upon the universe that Claire has created. Watching the love between Cash and Beatrice develop has been a treat. They are both well developed, interesting characters who can also kick ass when needed.
This book took some turns that I was not expecting and the fast-paced nature of the writing kept me unable to put it down the whole way through! If you haven't started this series yet, go start it now! You won't regret it and you'll be ready for whatever comes next, just like I am! This series is aimed at young adults however, there is much for older adult science fiction/romance readers will enjoy!
