She didn’t believe in forever. She wasn’t sure she believed in God at all, but she knew one thing with certainty. She trusted Nick more than any man she’d ever known. The thought warmed her to her toes, but those feelings were unwise in light of his vow as well as her intention to return to Sutton,” Victoria Bylin writes of Kate in her novel, Until I Found You.

At three hundred and fifty-two pages, this paperback targets those that like contemporary Christian romance. With no profanity, overtly sexual scenes, or extreme violence, the topics of sex outside of marriage may not be appropriate for immature readers. The ending includes the author’s biography along with advertisements for six similar novels by the publisher.

In this tome, twenty-nine year old Kate Darby is at a crossroads in her life. Although she loves working for Sutton Advertising in Los Angeles and recently ended a dead-end relationship, she realizes something is vacant in her controlled, stable life.

When driving to her ailing grandmother’s house in the remote mountains of Southern California, her life is caught in the balance as her car veers off a windy road when she avoids hitting a condor. Dangling precariously overlooking a deep crevice, she prays to God for help, hearing no audible reply.

Coming to her rescue is Nick Sheridan, a man who used to enjoy a fast-paced lifestyle but recently surrendered to God, vowing not to become involved with a woman for a full year. Immediately he is captivated by this damsel in distress, struggling to commit to his new-found limitations.

When Kate offers to help her grandmother run the town’s floundering newspaper, she has bitten off more than she can chew and asks for Nick’s assistance. Acquiescing to her every need, he craves to be near her, realizing she needs God more than him.

As the young woman sorts out her desire to be in control of her professional and personal life, she envies Nick’s faith in the CEO of the Universe as she questions trading a world she understands with one she does not in the remote area.

While both go through trials of testing their relationship, Kate must learn what is most important as Nick has to let go of what he cherishes most. Shedding their fears and trusting God, they must determine if it is worth the cost to be together.

Correlating condors’ habitats and mating rituals to human relationships, Bylin writes with compassion in a romance that addresses overcoming fears to find faith and trust in God and others.
