“Turning my head, a fraction of an inch, I saw a shadow stretch across my floor. It started to move, and my heart cantered. Sweat prickled the back of my neck.”
A compelling paranormal young adult romance from the mind of Dana Claire.
Olivia Davis is a normal small-town teenager living in Wisconsin when her world is tilted off it's axis by the suspicious deaths of a series of faculty members at her high school. As the child of a cop, she is naturally somewhat suspicious of whether or not the deaths were suicides as they were deemed to be but she gets even more suspicious when a strange new family shows up in town claiming to be investigating the deaths on their own.
The Hunters are a family of just that—hunters, but of the supernatural variety. Liam, the teenage son of the family becomes particularly interested in Olivia after he witnesses a strange hovering shape behind her in the window of her bedroom. He must confess everything to her in order to stop her from becoming the next victim of the supernatural creature stalking the halls of Falkville Falls high school, and in doing so, trust her in a way that he has never trusted anyone else.
Between the two of them, they must find the monster and stop it before it claims any other lives but working together is going to be difficult when Olivia is not only suspicious of Liam, but seems to outright hate him. Of course, this is something she gradually gets past as she learns more and more about him, and in the way of all great enemies-to-lovers stories, the two find common ground and shared experiences that bring them closer and closer together.
I love both Claire’s world building and character development! I can hardly wait for the sequel! A very fun and enjoyable read that I would recommend to anyone, young adults and adults, both!
