Silentauctions are exciting and those that place bids hope to come away with the items they have placed bids on. Claire Kelly is smart, astute and is paying attention to all of those placing their final bids and sees something out of the corner of her eyes. Someone palmed one of the pieces of jewelry and what follows is a takedown you will not believe.

Claire joined Neil MacBain’s security team in the United States. She is smart, has the skills equal to any spy thanks to spending time at Richter-a private military school in Europe.

She had access to the best assignments and now the new team she joined would be tasked with taking down a prostitution ring focusing on high school students.

But, that first scene brings Cooper Lockman back from her past who created the phony heist and who appears to go undercover at times. But he creates a stir in Claire that they both cannot ignore.

When the police ask for their help in taking down this ring the team gets into action and each one must play an undercover role in one of two high schools where girls have disappeared, drugs run the gambit and are sold, wild parties take place and Claire, and her roommate Jax are targeted to attend high school pretending to be seniors and the action does not stop there.

Human trafficking is thought to be an invisible crime, but it is all around us and at times people do not see the signs. A child that is sex-trafficking is part of an epidemic today and yet many young girls as you will learn within this novel fall prey to the men or young guys that lure them in.

Lured into the commercial sex trade and sold to men for profit you will be hard pressed not to feel the frustrations, anger and the determination as Claire, Cooper, Sasha, Jax and the leader of the team Neil and others set their sights on taking down the prostitution ring in both Auburn and Bremerton. The stakes are high, and the time frame is short as Claire becomes a high school student who runs track. Cooper works as a substitute teacher and coach plus Sasha has her own role and Jax as a hot student this team is unstoppable and no one except the Principal and Assistant Principal knows who they are or why they are there.

Claire is great with meeting the girls on the team and knows how to manipulate and connect on social media. Young girls like Ally and Elsie claimed to be studying, going out with friends but they were at parties, drinks spiked, and the result they could not even remember what happened before waking up.

The team identified Sean as the class bad boy at Auburn and realized he spent a lot of time in the vice principal’s office and was barely passing at all. Getting friendly with him was part of their goal and wondering and uncovering how he drives an expensive new car, single mom and has a brother. Something about him did not add up but there is much more. Claire plays her role great as being rude at times in class, not completing her work and challenging the teachers until they were about at the end of their rope. But, she had a skill that the coach of the track team needed and somehow he was going to work it out that she would be his star runner but what about her grades and her attitude?

The author allows readers to experience the raves, the parties and meet the operatives that were playing on the egos of the young girls like Ally and Elsie whose parents or grandparents were not exactly great role models or guardians leaving them wide open to what the people who were fronting the parties and eventually kidnapped so many young girls, made them disappear and hopefully would keep them in their dens or lairs without ever seeing a dime but warned as to what would happen if they did not comply.

Dresses, shopping sprees, jewelry and fine hotels and more as you enter the world that these young girls thought they were going to be a part of but when you meet Marie that will all change and you will understand the gravity of the situation and why Claire and her team had to work even faster, harder and smarter before more wound up like her.

Claire was a prime agent to go undercover, and the girls bonded with her because of her ability to run track, win races and blend in as a high school senior. Cooper kept his eyes on her at all time for reasons that will be revealed later, and Neil had cameras, mics and every surveillance mod con at his disposal.

When the identities of those that were involved, who owned the house where the parties happened just how connected to the police these men were and the corruption that was within the department and within one school itself, you will understand just how important this book is and why young teens, middle school children and high school students can fall prey when vulnerable populations, homeless youths, and victims  of prior abuse by offering to meet the needs of these young girls, provide affection, manipulating and using their vulnerability in order to increase the amount of girls by exploiting them online and luring them in.

When team unveils who is behind the ring, Claire is in danger, Elsie is taken hostage will the team get there in time before it’s too late. As the ending nears and you see the final reveal readers will want to see more of cases brought to MacBain Security and Solutions as the tensions rise and the twists, turns and unexpected ending will keep you wanting more, and you will understand the need for Changing the Rules.
