Holistic Health Cookbook
It is not often that I review cookbooks, but I make an exception for this one. For with the kind of challenges we face today, e.g. climate change, global warming, economic disparity and so on, we need to create global community efforts to meet them. With the advent of the Internet the global interlinkage of the human race has never been as obvious as it is today. To survive the onslaught of Nature reclaiming her own, we need to come together as a global community and make life decisions from the standpoint of mutual planetary benefit
This coming together of the human race requires that we live our lives differently from the of our forebears, the lives that we are familiar with. Our physical health requires this, we can no longer afford to enjoy that juicy hamburger from McDonalds without running the risk of cancer. This book suggests a step (one of many) in the right direction, showing us a way to live from the dispassionate perspective of a lightworker.
Before we can come together on a global platform, we must detox our bodies so that they are alive to the subtle signals from the mind and our soul. This is a task for the long haul, the goal being to come together with others with similar spiritual leanings.
One person who has taken a lead role in healing people through kinesiology or energy testing, is Donna Eden. In this book, the author applies her principles, (elucidated in her book entitled “Energy Medicine”) to show how they, combined with sundry tips on nutrition, can contribute to a healing of the body and making it function as it was designed to, all this being one contribution to heal the planet.
There are recipe books and recipe books. This recipe book appeals to those people who wish to find alternative, less exploitative ways of living well and in tune with the planet, all this without giving up their favourite food items.
The author starts with a preamble, with tips on how to buy the supplies required by the recipes. Next he proceeds to explain how to test the food using Donna Eden’s mechanism from kinesiology, and the adaptation of the same that he personally uses.
The bulk of the content in this book, is of course, the recipes. The ingredients range from a variety of fruits and vegetables to fish, eggs, cottage cheese, kefir yoghurt and beans among others. Meat recipes have been given the go by. There are recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and dessert. Each recipe is provided with a full color photograph of how the finished product is supposed to appear. Included with the recipe is a short paragraph mentioning the nutritional value and possible health benefits.
The author has written this book as a labor of love. One can see the care streaming through the pages, each recipe contributing to a coherent whole. This book is a recipe book one could come back to, to read and re-read.
Warmly recommended.
