Claire Conover has a mystery to solve. And this one is a bit too close to home.

As a social worker, Claire deals with a lot of bad parents and tricky situations, but when her former partner is the one getting reported, it turns into a whole different situation.

Claire's ex, Grant gets reported by a former employee at his business who claims that he molested her ten-year-old son.

Upon learning this new, Claire is immediately sure that the report is false. She knows that Grant would never do such a thing and that the employee is only trying to get back at him for firing her.

However, knowing this fact and proving it are two different things.

But, as an amateur sleuth herself, Claire knows how to go about finding the answers to her questions and she begins to investigate the employee in order to help Grant.

Soon, she learns more than she bargained for when the employee ends up dead and Claire has to figure out who killed her.

This was quite the story and a really addictive read!

For the fourth book in this series, the author, Margaret Fenton does a great job of bringing the reader up to date on the characters and story really quickly.

I appreciate a fast-paced read, and this certainly fit that bill! I definitely could not stop reading and I wanted more right after I was finished.

Fenton really created magic here with her characterization of Claire and her relationship with the people in her life. I found her to be very noble and sympathetic, while also being tough and realistic. I was really rooting for her and Grant by the end and really curious why Grant's employee would do something so drastic out of self-interest.

A wonderful read and on that I cannot recommend highly enough!
