Bee Lindy has been writing book reviews since she was a child. Her notebooks are full of reviews that she wrote before she had her first personal computer.
Before the advent of the Internet, Bee had her first personal computer, and has been saving reviews on computer files ever since.
Her first reviews appeared in her high school and college news papers many moons ago.
More recently she has written reviews as a guest reviewer on various book blogs.
Professionally, she is a fundraiser for various non-profit organizations which entails a great deal of writing. Bee lives with her husband and two dogs.

“Helen stopped dead in her tracks and yelled, “Freeze!” with her Beretta raised and ready to fire. Stark naked, a teenage girl with frizzy, brown hair charged around the corner at a full sprint. When she saw Helen, she screamed and stumbled, trying to stop, total abject terror on her face. Gasping for breath, she desperately tried to cover up with her hands."
A solid five-star book for me! Intriguing, well-paced and action-packed, Book of Jobs: A Collection of Helen Wu and Amy Dresden, by M.L. Grider is an absolute must read!
The perfect jumping off point for this series, this is a collection of short stories that show glimpses into the lives of Helen Wu and Amy Dresden before they met in the book, Bitter Vintage.
As a new recruit for the L.A.P.D., Helen suffers not only the normal ribbing that any rookie gets, but the added misogyny and racism that come with her being an Asian woman. That is, until she begins proving herself at every available opportunity by being awesome at her job and taking no nonsense from anyone. Between dealing with her jerk of a training officer and the strange and sometimes scary cases that pop up, Helen has a lot on her hands in these stories.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in LA, Amy Dresden is struggling to get by as a model. After dumping her crummy boyfriend, Amy desperately tries to make ends meet working in her in antique shop and eventually has to agree to do a “tasteful” nude shoot that ends up changing her life forever.
These two women are dynamic characters both by themselves and together, and I can see why Grider seems to enjoy writing them so much! I loved the title of this book and how it fit into the format. Every chapter tells the story of another job (either a case for Helen, or a modeling job for Amy) and each one ends up being crazier and more exciting than the last.
Grider also provides a great sense of location and atmosphere in this book, using LA as more than just a backdrop, but a character in it's own right. I look forward to reading more from this series!
