In this delightful book, a little girl named Cleo loves bows. She learned how to tie them herself from a rabbit and fox story. She makes bows to wear and has them all over her room. She is obsessed with bows!

This book is adorable! The illustrations are well done. The writing is sparse, as with most picture books but well done. I am a bit concerned with the rabbit and fox part of the story. The rabbit has very long floppy ears that get in the way but fox helps him by tying them into a bow on top of his head. Of course, in real life, this would be animal cruelty.

In fact, Sybrina Durant includes a warning about that at the end of the book. I do think it could make a good discussion with a child about animal cruelty, as an introduction to the topic. However, if your child who goes happily off trying things that they see, this would not be an appropriate book for them!

Besides being entertaining, this book is educational. It can be a great transition into teaching your child to tie their shoes. Durant also has a book about tying a tie, Learn To Tie A Tie With The Rabbit And The Fox’ and one on how to tie a scarf, Nellie Knows How to Knot a Neck Scarf. She also has videos on YouTube as a bonus to the books.
