Mitch Turner has been on the run since his daughter was born, concealing a truth so horrifying it could endanger not only both their lives, but anyone they dare to associate with. After accidentally getting involved with a family in Tennessee, Mitch finally gives in to his eleven-year-old daughter, Jules, and agrees to stay temporarily in the quaint community. But when a series of murders occur in their new found home, leading straight Mitch, and his daughter is ripped from him, he only has one person to turn to. Neesy Brown has made her share of mistakes, especially in the male department, but this one tops them all. Except she's having a hard time believing the quiet, charismatic man, who loves his daughter so much, can be who they say he is. Mitch knows it's too dangerous to lean on Neesy, but she's vowed to help them, and his deep-buried emotions are surfacing, causing a rippling attraction they can't deny. As a cunning predator pulls them deeper into his sick game, the price of losing could be all Mitch holds dear.
I must hand it to Annie Solomon, she's an author who knows her conflict like no other. It adds tension, dimension, and page-turning intensity. Starting in Tennessee, moving to Florida, and ending in New York, the setting was well-crafted and researched, drawing you into the surroundings. The hero and heroine were believable, wanting me to root for them all the way. The villain was as masterful as he was demented. I still have chills. But behind all that was a sweet, emotional tale about two broken souls in need of redemption. Brilliant. This book had a strong secondary cast as well, adding to the emotional punch. A must read!
