Maybe you do not know what ceremony is. Sandra offers the following definition for that. “Ceremony brings the sacred into ordinary life.” (2018, p.17) Doing so means this; “Performing ceremonies creates a bridge between the material world we live in and the world of the unseen, the divine, the power of the universe.” What could be more beautiful?

Ceremonies do not just happen randomly they should be somewhat planned.  Miss. Ingerman states that finding the right place to hold your ceremony is a critical component to its success. Ceremonies can be conducted indoors or outside, with or without music. “Be aware that ceremonies generate a lot of good energy.” (2018, p.29) After deciding where to have your ceremony you need a few more tools to make it work. Sandra says, “Once you discover a good place to work, I suggest connecting with the helping ancestral spirits of the land.” (p.29) “Leave an offering for the helping ancestral spirits.” (p.29) Some suggestions in this regard are tobacco, lavender, herbs, or special foods. Do not leave anything that is harmful to animals if you are working outside.

Ceremonies also require the right mindset and Ingerman suggests the following to ensure that you are of the right mind. “To begin your ceremonial work, it is important to make sure you step into the unseen realm not burdened by mind chatter. Shamans drum or rattle, dance and sing for hours to step away from their ordinary life.” (2018, p.41) This she calls “Powering up.”

There are many examples of people that Sandra worked with in this book and the outcomes of those ceremonies. These stories range from welcoming ceremonies for new babies for first time mothers to naming children through their rights of passage as they grow up and well into marriages. They are as beautiful as a desert sunset and steeped in love, gratitude and positivity.

This book is a practical guide to ceremony, but my suggestion is to study this art and interact with a professional prior to attempting anything on your own if you want to achieve the best results. I found this whole process quite interesting and illuminating and I believe you will too. Buy it, read it, enjoy and learn!
