Bookpleasures.com welcomes as our guest Reggie Hill. Reggie is the author of Lakewood, Reggie and Anita's Camelot and he along with his wife Anita have also penned a children's picture book, Sunshine's Excellent Adventures.

Good day Reggie and thanks for participating in our interview.

Norm: Please tell our readers a little bit about your and your wife's Anita's personal and professional background?

Reggie: Both Anita and I attended school together from the very first grade until our graduation. We married while I served in the US Army Security Agency and have been together for forty-nine years. Our first two years of marriage were spent in Japan where we loved the culture and Japanese people.

Career-wise, Anita has been a teacher, banker, and real estate professional. I have had successful careers as a technology consultant, professor, and financial advisor.

Anita’s hobbies include growing orchids and bird watching and I enjoy fishing, writing poetry, and as of late, learning how to play the

mandolin and banjo.

Presently, we enjoy dividing our time between our farm Lakewood in the North Carolina Piedmont and Cranberry, our stone cottage in the North Carolina Mountains.

Norm: Did you read any special books on how to write?

Reggie: No

Norm: What do you believe makes a good children's book?

Reggie: A book that meets these objectives:

First and foremost the book must be entertaining

Should teach children important life lessons

If about a special pet then preserve that pet’s memory

Be illustrated with cartoon like drawings.

Norm: What do you believe makes a good memoir and why would anyone want to read someone's memoirs?

Reggie: A good memoir, in my opinion, documents and preserves a person’s life. Memoirs provide a good learning tool as for example, I can learn a great deal from reading the memoirs of accomplished people like Winston Churchill, Thomas Jefferson, and Ben Franklin.

Norm: Do you write more by logic or intuition, or some combination of the two? Summarize your writing process.

Reggie: When it comes to my books both logic and intuition were important ingredients.

My writing process for Sunshine’s Excellent Adventures and Lakewood: Reggie and Anita’s Camelot A gift from God involved:

-Defining the purpose of the books

-Recalling memories of the subject

-Putting into words my feelings about the events

Norm: What's the most difficult thing for you about being a writer?

Reggie: Making the commitment of time and effort to write a good book.

Norm: What do you think of the Internet market for writers?

Reggie: The internet market is the future for writers in my opinion

Norm: What motivated you to write Lakewood, Reggie and Anita's Camelot and what do you hope will be the everlasting thoughts for readers who finish your book?

Reggie: Lakewood: Reggie and Anita’s Camelot A Gift From God is an understanding and appreciation of the wonderful impact that Lakewood has had on my wife and myself that has been home for us for the past 37 years. As I mention in the introduction to the book, “I hope that my poems and Lakewood stories offer you a window to my Lakewood and grant you a measure of serenity in this busy world, that we all share.”

Norm: What motivated you both to write a children's book, Sunshine's Excellent Adventures and what purpose do you believe your story serves and what matters to you about the story?

Reggie: Since Anita and I were never able to have children, we missed out on the joy of reading to them bedtime stories. “Sunshine” fills that void for us. By writing this story we preserve the precious memory of Sunshine forever. As I mention on the back cover of my book, “it is our wish that and hope that it will teach children some very important lessons about love, life, service to others, and the acceptance of all living creatures and their role in this wonderful world.”

Norm: What do your plans for future projects include?

Reggie: A book of Poems entitled Lakewood: Poems That Feed The Soul And Preserve Lakewood Forever

Norm: Where can our readers find out more about you and your books?

Reggie: Amazon.com:

Barnes and Noble.com

You Tube

Norm: As this interview comes to an end, what question do you wish that someone would ask about your book, but nobody has?

Reggie: What will happen to Lakewood the place after you and Anita have crossed over?

Will you write a series of books on Sunshine the cat?

Norm: Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. It's been an absolute pleasure to meet with you and read your works and good luck with them.

Reggie: My pleasure Norm. Hope my responses are helpful
