Did you know Earth looks exactly like bright blue marble against a black background when viewed from space? Here Steve and Matthew, authors of Planet Earth: Guide To The Planet amaze us with these facts.

This book will take you on a journey to the hottest and coldest places on Earth, to the great plains and the Himalayas and to the deep, dark caves.

I picked this book up and couldn’t stop reading. It is addictive. I was shocked at the picture of a locust swarm. These large creatures can cover 463 square miles in a single swarm - that’s about the size of Los Angeles!

Did you know how the moon was actually created? What animal can go for four whole months without eating or drinking? The things readers will learn in just a few pages are incredible!

I loved the “Did You Know” facts. These are quick to read and deliver moments of “wow, I never knew that!”

The information on the world’s oldest tree is pretty astonishing. It is believed to be older then Stonehenge.

Learn just how fast an ostrich can run. This bird has remained my favourite for many years despite being given a bad reputation by people.

Guide to the Planet just shows us all animals have their place on this Earth.

Mountains are reported to cover 24% of the land surface on Earth. Just how much coverage does the jungle take up or how about the depths of the ocean?  Amazing!

What do cave  glow -worms eat? It is astonishing what animals and bugs will do to survive.

There is an fantastic section on bats. Read this to discover facts you never even knew existed. I’m glad I did as I now know just how many bats can live in a single cave together. It is more then you can imagine!

What’s a mangrove forest? And what kind of forest is a tropical mountain forest? You can learn so much in so little time with this book.

How deep is the deepest ocean? What makes one of California’s shallow seas so fascinating? Just how big is The Great Barrier Reef? What are the ten facts about sea snakes which are included? Are Chimpanzees really as clever as we are?

I read on and on and on. Every time I came across a new discovery I was amazed.

A truly wonderful book which will inspire and help you learn more about our planet. The authors have also included a rather helpful back page which gives us some handy tips on how to save energy and look after Earth.
