    Self Development for All Round Success

The self development industry is one that is experiencing exponential growth today. With the immense media coverage that has been given to books and films like “The Secret” that draw aside the curtain on the secrets of manifestation, there has been unleashed to the public, a  plethora of material tailor made to suit individual needs on how to increase your productivity, your relationships, your health and your finances. As most of the books being written today are e-books, where production costs are negligible, more writers than ever before are talking about their own experiences. This e-book is one such. It does not talk of manifestation per se, but uses old management strategies gleaned from classics, such as “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living” and “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway”,and weaving material from parables, case studies and his own personal experiences into the writing.  

Going back to the title of this book, How to Win Your Day the author starts by  examining the meaning of the term “success in life”, making it amply clear that the above goal is achieved by using the present moment, the Now, in such a way so as to achieve harmony between the six pillars of our lives, viz., personal, family, intellectual, financial, social and spiritual. To achieve this goal, the author advocates a  morning ritual, wherein one gets up early, exercises, meditates and finally, improves his mind by reading in order to develop his personal and professional skills. The next three chapters deal respectively with goal settings, the importance of taking one step at a time and having the right positive attitude towards service. This is followed by advice on dealing with our fears and worries, the importance of putting in something extra into our service, the need for coming out of our comfort zones, the importance of the right kind of nutrition, and of course nurturing family ties by spending quality time together. A prescription on how to meditate, prayer and the role played by a Divine Godhead, is, for better or worse, missing.

Each chapter is accompanied with some action steps that are advised and miracle moments that are signals which record one’s progress.

The text of the book is straight from the heart and quite readable in spite of a good many grammatical flaws. If you are a stickler for appropriate grammatical precision, don’t read this book, there are others in the market. But if you are not, and do not have unlimited access to the standard literature on self development, this e-book might just be the one that can catapult you to achieve a desired goal.
