Bill Fallover was born in London in 1946
and studied art and graphic design at Hornsey College of Art. After graduating
he worked in advertising and magazine publishing, becoming an award-winning
designer. Later, Fallover became an illustration
designer for Penguin and Marshall Cavendish books. In 1973 he started making
models for photographers and TV commercials.
Throughout his exciting career he has also lectured
on art and designs in places as diverse as Cardiff and even San Francisco.
It is clear Bill Fallover loves all things
Zimmer - he has even made a Zimmer frame into a mini work shop! You may be
thinking what the hell am I on about but if you just open the first page of
this humorous book you will understand perfectly.
“It seems like everything can be custom
made these days to suit our individual needs. So why not, as Bill asks, the trusty Zimmer
frame?” To prove his point, he has taken the humble Zimmer frame and
customized it into many, many different objects. We have the beach Zimmer and
even a mummified Zimmer. There are just endless ways of reinventing this
walking tool, you don’t have to be old to laugh about it….the pictures say it
all
If you are “green” and into anything
eco-friendly then consider the Eco Zimmer for all your aches and pains.
Although, as the author warns, don’t
use the Eco Zimmer instead of the Olympic one when practising the “zimmertron.”
It sounds daft but to understand me better you will have to get this book.
The pogo Zimmer is the perfect present if
you know an old dear in your life that hates waiting in those pension queues.
Simply hop on the platform and pogo your way to happiness.
The Clown Zimmer looks hilarious but you wouldn’t rely on this thing if there were any pins or sharp objects around.
The snapshot of the Stone Age Zimmer was
really funny. Just think- you’d have to be extremely strong to use one of
these.
The Celtic Zimmer, The Pop Art Zimmer and
the amazing Surrealist Zimmer follow.. You have to “see it to believe it.” And
as for the Edible Zimmer…say no more!
Each and every page complete with picture is amusing and the accompanying writing so droll. Just what makes the Hairdressing Zimmer a reject and the Snow Plough Zimmer fatal to its operators? Read this book to find out and prepare to split your sides laughing.
