In this current-day tome based in Texas, the wealthy Massey family looks and appears to have everything – real estate, high-profile vehicles, designer clothes, and expensive jewels. Little do they know how upside-down their lives turn when it is discovered Tuck Massey, husband and father of three adult children, is indicted for the biggest livestock fraud in American history.

Claire, forever in love with her wonderful, thoughtful husband, initially has blinders on as she orders another Starbucks macchiato, thinking there would be no way her cherished spouse would do anything to jeopardize their Legacy Ranch, complete with horses, cattle, and a heliport.

While the older son and his wife feel the consequences of the father’s deceitful business ventures as a cattle broker, the daughter gets the brunt of the public’s reaction when she is no longer engaged to an up-in-coming politician. The younger son tries to hide his pain by focusing on the humor of life.

Although no family members call on God for redemption at first, they must find their way through their own heartaches and frustrations as they get knocked off the community’s financial pedestal and brought down to the reality of being common folk.

With Tuck’s admission of guilt, Claire repeatedly recalls the love their marriage once had as she questions getting a divorce when a relationship buds with a new friend who has stepped in financially.

Having a jacket cover reflecting a much younger woman, the actual story is about a middle-aged woman facing the decision to not let her past define her future in regard to her marriage.
