Consider the words on these pages your personal invitation into a world that exists all around you, enticing you to look at yourself, your closet, the way you shop, and what you wear in new and interesting ways. Allow them to coax you into embracing trends and to encourage within you a confidence that you deserve to feel,” Ashley Martini writes in the introduction to her book, Styletini: Shake Up Your Style, Stir Up Your Confidence.

At one hundred and seventy-one pages, this paperback targets those who love fashion, but are unsure how to look and feel more stylish in their appearance. After an introduction, eleven chapters cover the topic and end with a resource section.

Martini, a styling consultant, has found her talent helping both women and men dress better. In this book where she additionally offers her services, she becomes a tour guide in fashion, aiding insecure readers.

The first chapter determines the body type, choosing triangle, inverted triangle, rectangle, diamond, apple, and hourglass to match one’s natural body style. Also noted is how to take accurate measurements. The following chapter concentrates on plus, petite, and tall sizes and how to accommodate them.

The third chapter discusses ten basic clothing essentials and what makes a statement, even during the seasons. Each item is separated into age groups of 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s, also listing the body types so one knows what works best to complete the outfit. There is a small section on the two secret weapons: a killer smile and amazing attitude.

Chapter four and five mention closest organization along with where to shop, both online and off, divulging what works best and what to avoid. Shoes and accessories are noted in the sixth chapter while the next offers advice on when to splurge or save when purchasing basics, evening wear, shoes, bags, and accessories.

Two in-depth chapters are eight and nine, giving the “who, what, and wear” to specific events, also broken down by decades and body type to assist in choosing the proper attire.  A short chapter is about pampering followed by men’s apparel. The final and very informative chapter lists favorite websites of the author and why she recommends them.

As a quick collection of the dos and don’ts in the fashion industry, Martini’s book keeps fashion-conscientious women in the know and up-to-date for the next adventure in their lives.
