By all rights, she should have been killed today. And if her fears were valid that his abandoning her at the airport was all about the Nehemiah Project, she could be another body at the morgue. She shook her head, wanting to believe her injuries had taken her on a hallucinatory trip,” Diann Mills writes in her suspense novel, Firewall.

At four hundred and ten pages, this paperback targets those interested in current-day Christian fiction with intrigue and romance. With some slang, instances of violence, and light romance, the story would be apropos for mature teenagers and adults. At the end of the book, there are author notes and ten discussion questions.

In this fast-moving tome, Taryn Young has had all her dreams come true, or so she thinks. A top software developer of Gated Labs Technology designing the Nehemiah Project with the U.S. Congress’s support, she heads to the Houston airport with her newly married husband who has swept her off her feet when they met only three months ago.

It is not all as it seems, especially when a bomb goes off in the airport terminal killing almost fifty people while she is in the restroom. Unable to locate her husband, the injured woman with a high IQ finds herself in a nearby hospital recuperating from injuries and being questioned by the FBI of her participation in a terrorism plot.

With only FBI Agent Grayson Hall’s belief in her innocence, the two begin a back-and-forth relationship of trust and faith as they try to find the true identity of her supposed husband and if the terrorists were after her knowledge of the Nehemiah Project.

Through multiple threats and encounters with those who want to get information, she must rely on God being in control and knowing the outcome of her life. As she starts to depend and confide in Grayson, Taryn becomes more entangled in a rogue group of dangerous people seeking to kill her and others for more than financial gain.

Battered and broken, Taryn encounters more injuries than conceivable in several days as Grayson tries to connect the dots to locate the mastermind of the bombing. Readers that like a female protagonist caught up in a suspenseful mystery with twists may find this read engaging.
