At one hundred and sixty-eight pages, this paperback targets those interested in losing weight by following a particular diet plan. With half to full page color photographs every two to six pages, one hundred recipes are provided. A topical index is included along with the author’s short biography and a promotion of another one of her books.

Having lost sixty pounds using David Zinczenko’s “The 8-Hour Diet,” this author / registered nurse promotes by fasting sixteen hours and eating throughout eight hours at least three days of the week, one will lose excess weight.

After acknowledgements, a preface, the author’s weight loss story, why her diet plan worked, and tips with advice for successful dieting, food recipes are listed by lunch, snacks, dinner, desserts, and flavored and vitamin waters.

Honing in on eating within eight hours of the day, she explains eighty percent of weight loss is due to diet with exercise being the other twenty percent. By hydrating, having specific cut-off times, exercising in the morning, avoiding calories in drinks, getting adequate sleep, and mixing up the routine slowly and steadily, one will shed pounds.

Stating that breakfast should be avoided, no recipe section on the topic is inserted. Instead, there are tasty concoctions listed such as Mango Peach Smoothie, California Sushi Rolls, Mediterranean Chicken Soup, Barbeque Chicken Salad, Lobster Rolls, Kendra’s Simple Salsa, Orange Fruit Dip, Apricot Chicken, Blue Cheese Sliders, Harvest Garden Chili, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Chicken Tikka Masala, Asparagus and Mushroom Frittata, Apple Betty, Chocolate Raspberry Truffles, Broiled Grapefruit, and Strawberry Soup.

Usually one recipe per page, there are short descriptions at the top of the page, lists of ingredients, and numbered directions along with colored sidebars stating the serving size, sometimes including photographs of the finished product.

With many of the recipes being standard and easy to prepare, there are a few with more complicated directions. Although the writer includes no caloric or dietary information and promotes no needed breakfast meal to start the day, this diet may interest some.
