Today, Bookpleasures.com is pleased to have as our guest Ana Koza author of two children's books, Around the World and The Magic Words.

Norm:

Good day Ana and thanks for participating in our interview

Why have you been drawn to write children's picture books?

Ana:

Thank you for the time given in this e-interview!

It’s been something that I’ve always wanted to do. Raising two boys has been a wonderful and challenging experience thus far and I’ve discovered a fun and creative way to pass on to them the importance of being polite and respectful to others

Norm:

How did you decide you were ready to write Around the World and The Magic Words?

Ana:

Writing has been my passion, but one day I sat down in my living room and started to write Around the World. When I got the final draft, I thought it could be a good book to publish and share with for other kids as well with the hope that other kids around the world will get the message I’m trying to pass.

Norm:

Whom do you believe will benefit from your books and why?

Ana:

Parents, children, friends, etc I want to bring back the importance of being polite to others and respectful. I believe now day, we are missing that and it seems it’s just not as important as it was before.

Norm:

How did you work with your two illustrators, Shaun Crum, with Around The World and Gisela Magarito with The Magic Words?

Ana:

Both of them are great illustrators so it was an easy job for all of us. I explained them what I was looking for in each character and story. Of course there were many changes done to Around the World to come up the way I wanted Ellie to look and behave. The Magic Words process was a bit easier as the illustrator got my point right away about Tommy. The way she told the story with her illustrations was amazing!

Norm:

What do you think makes a good children's picture-book?

Ana:

I believe illustrations and how the story is told. Illustrations are such a big thing for children’s picture books as that’s what will catch the eye of a child.

Norm:

What was the time-line between the time you decided to write your books and publication? What were the major events along the way?

Ana:

It took about a year the whole process. Illustration took about 6-7 months which I never thought it would take this long, but it’s a long process to have great results!

Norm:

What was the most difficult part of writing your books? As a follow up, did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?

Ana:

The message I intended to pass along the children. I needed to be careful on how I would write it in a way that no one would take it in the wrong way. Also, making easier for the kids to understand and make it fun for them.

Norm:

How can readers find out more about you and your endeavors?

Ana:

They can follow me on twitter @kidintheclouds1 or visit my WEBSITE.  The books and ebooks can be purchased at Amazon.com, Barnes and Nobles and Ibooks (Apple store)

Norm:

What is next for Ana Koza?

Ana:

I’m working on my next book which is done and ready to be illustrated. It is about bullying. I believe this is such an important topic that I felt the need to guide children different ways on how to stop it and avoid it.

Norm:

As this interview draws to a close what one question would you have liked me to ask you? Please share your answer.

Ana:

Who are the main characters in the books and how do they interact?

Magic words—Tommy is an active boy-always on the go, but he often forgets the magic words. Tommy reminds us in his own funny way how to reinforce social skills while our children enjoy a good story.

Around the world—Ellie is an explorer at heart and loves to meet new people from all over the world. Ellie has many friends in different cultures and they all tell us through their own words a little something about themselves.

Norm:

Thanks once again and good luck with all of your future endeavors
