Our allotted time here on planet earth is so short. Think back to this time last year. It’s easy to look back and gasp, wondering where all the time went and why it went so fast. I want to make each moment count; I want to live each day as if it was my last. This passion I have for life – I believe you can have it too,” Dave Bell writes in his book, Your Guide to Living Life Out Loud.

This one hundred and sixty page paperback targets those who want to know more about how a young adult got through a rough spot when facing severe medical issues, turning toward God for the answers. Written in English style, American readers may trip over the unaccustomed spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

After a dedication, foreword by Pastor Rick Warren, and introduction, sixteen chapters are in first person, autobiographical format, ending with a ten pages of photographs. Duplicate and other photographs are included throughout the chapters. Each chapter ends with a recap guide with icons to think, read, pray, and live out loud, addressed personally to the reader.

Written as a memoir, Dave Bell has been through an unusual experience for his twenty-six years of life. Brought up in a Christian home in England with a pastor as a father, he loves sports and music. With a loving, normal childhood, he mentions his two older siblings, his mum and dad, and going to annual church camps.

When he was sixteen years old, he noticed his eye droop, only to be rushed through a battery of medical tests to find out the seriousness of a rare form of cancer that could take his life.

Through praying and his mother singing him through hospital stays, he went through chemotherapy and radiotherapy, learning the affects could be devastating to his health. After facing the facts of the disease, he found the supernatural Truth that God is in control.

After being healed, he returned to a more normal life of marriage, having children, and being in a Christian band where he gives God the glory for allowing him to go through such a tumultuous time so he can tell others about Christ.

Geared more toward mature teenagers and young adults, the book reminds us that life is short and we are here for the purpose to glorify God.
