As you take a few moments to pause from the stress and hurry of everyday life to focus on God and His plan for you, you become more centered, refreshed, and at peace. Meeting with God every day transforms you.” Chris Tiegreen writes in the introduction of his book, 365 Pocket Devotions – Inspiration and Renewal for Each New Day.

At three hundred and sixteen notecard-sized pages, this salmon-colored, leather-like bound book is the ideal size for a purse or backpack or to keep on a nearby bedside table. Using mainly the New Living Translation of The Bible, each of the three hundred and sixty five days of the year has a devotion by day number, not date, covering a half page to full page. A bright orange attached ribbon can be used as a marker.

Listing a topic at the top of the page, there is a one sentence teaser of “when I want, wonder, consider, need, etc…,” prompting personal application, followed by several paragraphs gleaned from the “Walk Thru the Bible” international ministry. Bible verse or verses are written out at the bottom of the page. A helpful three page topical index is at the end of the book with one to six corresponding daily devotions posted per topic.

Due to a wide range of themes such as ambition, character, gratitude, knowledge, motives, pride, security, and tragedy, the reader can view day by day concepts randomly or look up a topic in the index and search the pages. Having the Bible verse written out saves time going to a second source to read it.

This book was furnished by Tyndale in lieu of an unbiased review.

One example is taken from Day 130 titled “Loving Others” that states “If we attempt to love others as Jesus loves us, we will fail. We can try to muster up feelings, but they will fall short. We can try to love independently of our feelings, but it will be a hollow, lifeless love. No, the only remedy is the living Vine bearing fruit through His branches. He is the source. Do you want greater love for others? Bask in His love, and see what happens next.” The Bible references are John 15:5 and 12.

Having short half page devotions when time is limited or longer, thought-provoking material on full pages, this small book is a perfect reminder to be in the Word daily for wisdom or guidance. This is not only an excellent reminder to focus on the Lord, it is the perfect present for anyone seeking for a quick and easy-to-read daily Biblical devotional.
