Yoga is entrenched in Asian culture but even Western countries have now been seduced by this essentially Eastern import. There are several variations of Yoga that are spread in different nooks and corners of the continent of Asia. Even India, where the birth of Yoga actually took place, has around 25 variations! This is a book that brings to fore an essentially a different version of Yoga called ‘Tibetan Yoga’ and its various aspects for the benefit of Yoga enthusiasts. A reading of the book proves that it is comprehensive in all aspects and has been written with precision. And this is no surprise because a Yoga practitioner himself has penned this book to teach the nuance of this practice. Hence, the practical aspects have been addressed pretty well; it was expected and it has been delivered!

The best part of the book is the usage of pictures to illustrate the movements. And no it is not just the final postures that have found a place in the book; in fact right from warm ups to preliminary positions have been pictorially represented for the benefit of the end user. Add to it a very crisp written account of the precautions, warm-up exercises and the benefits that one would derive and the book is a wonderful guide for Yoga lovers.

This is great because even though several people are aware of the movements (in the East it is indeed lucrative business)but seldom are they aware of the benefits or the best way to go about them, which at times may lead to unpleasant aftereffects. The book opens with an introduction of Yantra Yoga and goes on to explain its various degrees. Even extremely difficult postures have been so easily explained that they all look achievable!

Those who find Yoga difficult or have the urge to learn it must get this book. This is one of those rare books that have the ability to remove the mystical halo of Yoga. The book does not, even once, try to present Yoga as some exotic variation of exercises and nor does it try to present it as a panacea of all health issues. The authors present the book with authority and not indulgence.

This is an educational book that has the potential to entice everyone. Even though Asia is not a stranger to Yoga, yet, a book like this is an extremely valuable addition and should be within reach of everyone everywhere.
