We already are space travelers. Each of us is a crewmember on spaceship Earth – spinning at 800 miles per hour while circling the sun at more than 60,000 miles per hour,” Jason Klassi reminds us in his book, The Everyday Space Traveler – Discover 9 Life-Affirming Insights into the Wonders of Inner and Outer Space.

This simplistic black with gold lettering canvased hardback book has a beautiful, artistic paper jacket cover with two hundred glossy pages of colorful photographs, depictions and artwork involving our universe within its pages. With a forward by astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the book is targeted to those who love our vast cosmos with its amazing planets, star formations and Earth, wishing they could travel and explore unknown domain while comfortably seated browsing pages.

Not your typical coffee table book of only stunning, star-studded photographs of space, this is a futuristic journey from Earth to Mars and beyond taken in the year 2099 to 2101. After an introduction and why go into space discussion, there are three sections: preparing, departing and discovering space as every step of the journey is taken as it engages the reader in the process. The book ends with an epilogue of the next adventure, how to participate, acknowledgements, notes, credits and an index.

With only a few participants boarding the space yacht to the small human colony called New Shangri-La at Mars, the author includes everyday travel tips, insights, author logs and a myriad of science and history topics related to space. Correlating everything to our perceptions on here on Earth, he challenges us to pay more attention to our surroundings, our friends, and our world while we learn more about our universe.

Ranging from space accomplishments to experiences and experiments, the reader is traveling alongside as inner and outer space is explored, weightlessness in the biosphere is imagined and visualizing a journeystar through astronomy is comprehended. Although he mentions the incredible mystery of the universe and life itself, there is little about God or a Supreme Creator of such an intricate, complex system.

Relating space travel to occurrences in our lives, Klassi brings the massive universe to our day-to-day level as he combines common items such as music, artwork, food recipes and six degrees of separation to more obscure subjects like sex in space, aliens and black holes as he encourages us to view our circumstances differently.

If one does not glean from the scientific astronomical discoveries in this book, he or she will close its cover knowing that we are truly crew members here on Earth who need to know our surroundings, remain calm, think differently, sense life, enhance relationships, find a purpose, be resourceful, embrace the mysteries of life and apply wisdom learned.
