Norm Goldman, Publisher & Editor of Bookpleasures.com Interviews Robert E. Gross Author of Memoir & Misadventures of a Mad Inventor

Today, Bookpleasures.com is pleased to have as our guest Robert E. Gross author of Memoir& Misadventures of a Mad Inventor.

Good day Robert and thanks for participating in our interview

Norm:

Please tell our readers a little bit about your personal and professional background.

Robert:

Most of my career has been in Manufacturing Engineering, and later , as a Mechanical Engineer

for Aerospace companies such as Goodrich Aerospace, Hughes Aircraft , and Air Research of Phoenix.  I actually attended Indiana State University, studying to become a commercial pilot, but after obtaining my Private Pilot's license, and even with the best navigation aids, I found I couldn't navigate from one city to another without reading the name of the city on their water tower.

My flight instructor suggested I keep my feet on the ground, and choose another occupation. I took his advice, and became an engineer.

I am now a retired disabled Vietnam Vet. I had to retire early due to the numerous afflictions caused by my contact with Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam.

Norm:

How did your childhood influence your choice of occupations when you were an adult?

Robert:

As far back as I can remember, I was interested in aviation, possibly, from the time my father took me to my first air show at the age of five.

Norm:

What would you say is the best reason to recommend someone to read Memoir& Misadventures of a Mad Inventor and what motivated you to write the book of essays?

Robert:

Many people enjoy thinking about their past adventures, and misadventures as a child. I choose to share my stories with others who may have had a less exciting childhood.

Norm:

What was the most difficult part of writing your book? As a follow up, what did you enjoy most about writing this book?

Robert:

Choosing a book title was the most difficult part of writing my book.

The part I enjoyed the most was recreating the events as accurately as possible, It allowed me to relive the true events, and enjoy them all over again (from the safety of my desk)

Norm:

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in authoring your book?

Robert:

Everything I learned in college about taking good notes paid off as I assembled the manuscript. Without good notes, I could never have written the book.

Norm:

What has been your overall experience as a published author?

Robert:

I had a great time getting my book published. I was told by a friend to write about what you know.  I did, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Norm:

What are you upcoming projects?

Robert:

I have considered writing about my experiences during the year I spent as radio code/teletype operator in Vietnam. I found the country fascinating, although I didn't like the populace trying to kill me every day.

Norm:

Where can our readers find out more about you and Memoir& Misadventures of a Mad Inventor?

Robert:

My Bio, and book can be found on amazon Books in both paperback, and Kindle editions. Also Barns & Noble has my book listed.

Norm:

As this interview draws to a close what one question would you have liked me to ask you? Please share your answer.

Robert:

Most people ask me if my stories are really true. I tell them the events are as true as my aging 67 year old brain could recall them. I actually had a few more stories to tell, but couldn't recall the details well enough to guarantee their accuracy.

Norm:

Thanks again and good luck with all of your future endeavors
