This two hundred and eighty-three page paperback book is considered a historical fantasy fiction as it relates to the time period Israel was becoming a nation in the nineteen forties and how Arabs and Jews fought for the land, especially Jerusalem and the famous Temple Mount. With minor profanity, murder, and violence mixed with Bible and Koran verses along with Biblical historical stories, the tome would be targeted toward young adult or older or those who like the genre of the Indiana Jones series. The list of real and fictional characters would be more helpful at the beginning of the book with the map of Jerusalem instead of the end to aid in referencing during reading.
Almost fifty years old, Professor Evan Sinclair is teaching his history class in Boston when he receives a telegram that his father is missing in Palestine months before Israel is declared a nation. He immediately flies to Jerusalem with a friend of his father’s to locate Professor Clive Robert Sinclair, only to find out he has been dubbed.
As the plot thickens, both father and son have a love for anything Jewish in relationship to the Temple Mount being a meeting place of the Poor Knights of the Temple of Solomon and the Strict Observance, a sect originally to protect those coming to and from the Holy Land.
With several skirmishes with Hitler’s Third Reich in the vicinity, the Jewish Hagganah, the Arab Legion and white-robed soldiers, Evan and Clive have to stay one step ahead to locate the tunnels under the Temple to find the wealthy Templar treasures. After the American Consulate is bombed, both are imprisoned several times and escape, they find out who is part of the thirty-six righteous that can see the Holy of Holies within the Mount.
From Evan’s past love, her father and her son’s relationship to the Old City, the dots are connected between Mozart, founders of America, Freemasons and others to promote the Knights’ Heavenly Jerusalem mentioned in the Bible.
With all the characters, famous historical sights and Biblical stories of the land, the tome becomes more fantasy than fiction when Evan must risk everything for his love of one woman and find his true calling.
