It doesn’t cost a thing and you can give it away.
You can share it with your friends.
And it starts with a smile.
Soon everyone will be laughing in a while.”

Kimberling Galeti Kennedy rhymes in the first poem of her children’s book titled Why You Should Laugh Three Times a Day.

This unnumbered but around twenty-five page book is about half the dimension of a piece of writing paper and shows three children laughing on the front cover. Instructions are included at the end to download its free digital audio book online. With punctuation errors, it is targeted to preschool age and above but some of the words may be complicated for a beginner reader. Bright large, simplistic colorful drawings are usually on one side of the page while several sentences are on the other side.

With the first page having a space to fill in the “this book belongs to,” this is a collection of seven poems that cover two to four pages with corresponding illustrations. Poem titles are as follows with a short description of each.

Why you should laugh three times a day – is about how laughing affects you physically and makes the grumpies go away to make you happy.

What If? – is about finding things to make you happy such as playing with a friend, doing homework early, taking to grandparents, not being afraid and eating healthy.

Ten in Bloom – is about ten different types of flowers and what they look like when they bloom.

My Best Friend and I – is about all the things to do with a best friend such as sip tea, take walks, fill water balloons, dance, sing and catch lightning bugs before falling asleep.

Just Another Day at the Bakery – is about all the things that happen at a bakery before it opens such as cooking smells, different types of food, and the baker who bakes and gets everything ready.

I Wonder Why Thunder is so Loud – is about being afraid of thunder, hiding under the covers with a favorite pet named Jack and bright flashes of lightning.

My Dog Lefty – is about a dog named Lefty who uses her left paw the most, loves spaghetti and toast, tries to play the piano and brings joy to those that love her.

With the poetry having a rhyming ending to each line, it helps the reader use words that sound alike. With a variety of themes among each poem, the child gets a wide-range of topics to learn and discuss.
