According to extensive research conducted by investigative journalist and political science expert Jerome R. Corsi, oil is abiotic and not organic in nature. Moreover, it is a myth that hydrocarbon fuel is scarce and that proven reserves of oil and natural gas worldwide are greater today than ever in human history.

In The Great Oil Conspiracy, Corsi explores the Nazi secret of synthetic oil which he traces back to the end of World War II when American intelligence agents confiscated thousands of Nazi documents that revealed the secrets as to how oil is formed-which is contrary to the long held belief that oil is derived from ancient biological debris.

Apparently, to keep their war machine going, German scientists cracked the chemical code and developed the formula necessary to produce synthetic oil. Although the Germany`s objective was to produce gasoline, diesel fuel, and aviation fuel from their abundant coal supply, they discovered equations, which became known as the “Fisher-Tropsch” process, that explained the origin of oil as being a naturally occurring phenomenon where hydrogen and carbon bond with ramifications that went far beyond converting coal into liquified synthetic fuel.

Corsi's argument, which he backs up with a variety of documentation, is that “ oil and natural gas found near the surface of the earth in sedimentary rock structures were formed at deep-earth levels and poured through the cracks in the earth's bedrock structure, only to pool in the more porous sedimentary rock structures typically found near the earth's surface.”

For decades after the war and even up until to-day, petro-scientists and petro-geologists contend and strongly believe that oil and natural gas are biologically produced “fossil fuels.” They refuse to study the Fischer-Tropsch equations to unravel the code of how hydrocarbons are produced. According to Corsi, ùp until 1940, German scientists and engineers with the consent of the Nazi government, had been providing technical information about the Fischer-Tropsch process to a consortium of six companies that had been members of the old Standard Oil Company.”

Corsi points out that after the war it was much more profitable to produce petroleum products from “fossil fuels” and US oil companies were not interested in producing relatively expensive synthetic oil when they could earn billions of more dollars from hydrocarbon fuels including crude oil and natural gas. In the 1960s funding for the Fischer-Tropsch research dried up and the emphasis gradually shifted away from synthetic fuels to the “fossil fuel” program.

Another myth that Corsi takes issue with is that the world is running out of oil which is based on the premise that it is a fossil fuel and is derived from a limited and non-renewable natural resource. However, as he points out, this belief dismisses the abiotic theory of the origin of oil that does not reach the same conclusion that we are running out of oil. Quoting from several doomsayers over the years, he shows how wrong they have been and in fact if we believed some of these so called experts, we would have long run out of oil.

Although The Great Oil Conspiracy is an interesting read, I wonder how much of what Corsi states is actually factual and since I am not a geologist, I am in no position to vouch for the validity of his arguments. I should also like to point out that the book is in need of a good editor to clean up poor sentence structures and grammar which at times made in difficult to follow Corsi's arguments.
