Good day Andreas and thanks for participating in our interview
I noticed from reading your bio that you are a mental trainer and life coach. What is a mental trainer and what is a life coach?
My mental training program consists of tools and methods such as goal setting, visualization, mental imagery, self-talk retraining, mind control training, emotion control and in general, ways to establish true ideal thoughts, images and emotions. The primary goal of my task as a mental trainer is to enhance the performance of global business leaders by supporting them to gain more self-confidence and strengthen mental toughness for performing better during tough negotiations and demanding cross-cultural challenges. My unique approach empowers global leaders to attain real greatness through unleashing the power of their authenticity.
As a life design coach I help individuals to live up to their dream to become entrepreneurs. In a first stage I help them to identify their true calling. In a second step I support them to overcome their fears and self-doubts. In a third step we design and implement their personal life map, also often includes the outlining of a detailed business plan coupled with mental techniques supporting them on their path to living up to their uniqueness.
I also noticed that you are founder and owner of the BE SHiRO Group. What is this all about?
The BE SHiRO Group consists of three companies headquartered in Switzerland and India. Two companies focus on the development of projects in the renewable energy area. One company is focusing on the empowerment of leaders, organisations and projects to attain greatness through authenticity. I personally focus right away on the empowerment of global leaders and companies who engage me as a trusted adviser, keynote speaker and leadership mentor so as to maximize overall value based on my “Greatness through Authenticity” program.
If you could go back ten years and give yourself one piece of advice what would that advice be?
I would advise what I have always been doing during my entire life: dare to dream big and take consistent actions for procrastination is the biggest enemy for not unleashing one’s full potential.
What's the one thing that people always seem to get wrong about you?
I have always been following my dreams and big visions, which helped me to accomplish really great things already early in my life. Passion has always been the most crucial driver of my success. Many people admire me for what I have been doing and assume that everything has been easy to me since I have never had self-doubts.
However, they are wrong. I am unique like everybody else on this planet but I am just a normal being like you, which means that even I have had very often my doubts and fears when I started new ventures or reinvented completely my career. People think that I have a special talent for reaching my things I dreamt of.
However, I guess what differentiates me from others is not my talent but a clear vision and the willingness to persevere at any cost regardless of barriers and difficulties.
If you could change one thing about the world what would it be? As a follow up, do you worry about the human race?
One thing I would change if I could is that people would appreciate and respect each other much more regardless of their cultural diversity, different opinions or beliefs they hold.
I believe that many people have lost the connection to their heart. We are often driven by other opinions and do not do what we really feel just because we are scared of becoming non-conformists. However, exactly such a behavior, namely the loss of our true authenticity, is the major cause that we see so much greed, anger and violence. People can only give what they possess. So, if you possess love which means that you truly appreciate yourself with all your imperfect and unpolished traits then you are also able to appreciate others. People who are truly authentic know who they really are and own the golden prerequisite for bringing peace to this planet.
I am not concerned at all about the human race. Many people, scientists, philosophers and outstanding global leaders are in the process of raising the consciousness for making this world a better place. A looming financial crisis and environmental problems will accelerate this process. Furthermore, a new generation of leaders has recognized that it is not just about making profit anymore but creating real value in a sustainable and holistic way for the entire humanity.
Can you give us an idea about your philosophy of writing? What was your creative process like when writing Do You Dare To Be Yourself? Developing Power in Life and Leadership Through Authenticity? What happened before you sat down to write the book ?
Before I started to write my book I defined the clear goal I wanted to reach: to empower as many people as possible to attain greatness through authenticity.
I have always been facing the question of how people can be themselves and live up to their dreams and true potential. So, I identified the major elements and key success principles for living and leading authentically and matched some powerful stories from my private and especially business life. I wanted to get the message straight from the readers mind into the hearts. So, the allegory or novel format was the obvious choice for writing an exciting story blended with powerful tools and techniques. I wanted the reader to get involved in a story which allowed them to identify easily with the typical challenges we all face when it comes to overcome hurdles so as to live our true life we really deserve. Furthermore, the book highlights many milestones in my life so it was easy to follow a logical sequence of the various chapters.
How did you decide you were ready to write the book and why did you chose the allegory format?
I have had the idea to write the book for years. I had even outlined the structure and a few chapters but always put the book away since I have not had enough time to write. One day a friend of mine approached me and asked me for specific advice on how to follow ones' true vocation. I discussed the issue along with my wife and she told me: “Now it is high time that you wrote this book.” This was actually the wake-up call to me.
Before I started to write the book I was asking myself one crucial question: How is it possible to empower as many people as possible through my core message: “Just dare and attain greatness through authenticity.” The answer came just days later when I felt that a gripping narrative blended with tools, techniques and methods would be exciting for any reader and would take my core message straight from the readers’ mind to his and her heart.
How does your book differ from others that deal with the same themes and what do you hope to accomplish with your book?
The book has been written with a clear intention to empower individuals for finding meaning and purpose through an authentic life, and to empower leaders to gain more credibility so as to win people’s hearts.
The book is different from any other “self-help-books.” The book can be described as ‘Who Moved my Cheese’ meets ‘If Life is a Game, These are the Rules.’ It is not a self-help book or how-to book. Instead it combines elements of leadership, self-help, and spiritual wisdom genres in a compelling narrative. Readers will easily identify with Robin and his life and career experiences, his choices and failures, as he picks himself up and makes progress toward his goal of living an authentic life. It touches the emotions of readers, which is the key to making real changes in life. Many people who have read the book.

Is there anything else you wish to add that we have not covered?
Take your current age and deduct it from the average life expectancy (it amounts to 78.3 years for Americans). What is left are the years remaining for living up to your full potential. How many years do you have left? Do you really live your life? Do you express all your talents and life your dreams on a daily basis? Life is too short for not living authentically, and it costs by far too much for not following your heart. Life is by far too short for worrying, being scared or having doubts! Start now the life you really deserve.
Forget about complainers, show-offs or hypocrites trying to derail you. Live now your unique individuality driven by a deeper meaning and leading to joy, which will in turn leave your legacy on this planet. Years ago I was involved in a bombing attack in Asia and luckily I survived, but I saw many people dying.
One important lesson I learned then was: “When facing death, you have nothing to lose. You take risks, because you realize just how useless it is to live in constant fear or to strive for false security. The future and the past have no meaning. Your worldly possessions can no longer help you. The only thing that matters is the here and now. Live each day as if it was your last!”
My biggest vision is to build peace on our planet earth through empowering millions of people to live an authentic life, which is the basis for emotional stability, a high degree of self-confidence and real greatness. “Do you dare to be yourself” is the wake-up call for attaining real greatness!
Thanks once again and good luck with all of your future endeavors
