A wonderful children’s book.  It is the story of Abe, a homeless man.  Abe is a very kind man, and this is a great way to teach children that you don’t have to be a bad person to end up on the streets.  Abe’s adventure takes us through one day in his life where he is fortunate to find food, shelter, money, warmth, and he shares it all with others, feeling happy that he has helped them.  In the end Abe’s kindness is rewarded in an unexpected way.  This book can be used to teach children the benefits of helping others who are less fortunate.  Abe is a character who thinks of others before himself, setting a good example for children.

The illustrations are fabulous and I like the way practically every scene in the story is shown in a picture. The pictures almost tell the story on their own without words, so even a child who can't yet read will be able to follow along by 'seeing' the story unfold. This would make a great gift for a child.

Jill Warren was born in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania in 1961. She studied Special Education and Psychology at Lock Haven University until joining the Air Force in 1982. Upon returning to the states, she moved to New York and where she began work in the field of developmental disabilities. She completed her B.A. in Psychology in 1992, the same year her son was born. This was when her love of children's books began. Telling bedtime stories and reading with her young son brought forth an itch that had to be scratched. But it wasn't until 2008 that she began to write for children. In 2011, publication of her first book, "Abe's Lucky Day" represented the realization of a dream come true. Warren continues to live in New York and work with preschool children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is currently working on her second book.
