A real edge-of-your-chair book.  When you think that you've figured everything out, think again!!  We have all read books declaring the end of the world is at hand.  But, this author has come up with a different concept and readers will be able to live through some of the fantastic and unexpected action.

We have a retired CIA sniper, Al Robek, who is fighting against his many demons from PTSD after spending time in the Middle East, alone, taking out terrorists.  He is working with an old pal Vance Mahoney, who is kind of a minder for Al as they work on setting up a museum in Iraq.

We also meet an old girlfriend of Al's, Jess Contreras, who was a model but is now a pilot, supposedly CIA trained.  She is on a mission over Iraq when her plane accidently drops a bomb near a small village.  Fortunately, no one is hurt but, something odd is discovered in the bomb crater and Al is summoned by his former bosses to investigate. The two of them find an ancient city buried beneath the sand and become the targets of a society called the Brotherhood who want to bring about the end of the world.

Along with Vance, the two hook up with Ed Collins, an ex-British code detector who has tracked the Brotherhood as far back as WWII.  With the CIA's help along with British SAS and MI5, these four take on the Middle East, Europe and South America to find the Brotherhood and find evidence of a plot to end the world that was planned thousands of years ago.  The government of the United States, the Vatican and international banking are found to be involved and, with each discovery ( including one that will really shock readers) that is found there seems to be a new and different terror.

An extremely fast novel which, for me, was a one-day read.  It will remind readers of Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt, who went from one problem to the next in minutes.  Working with fiction and non-fiction the author has written a fabulous adventure and I'm waiting impatiently for the next book in the series.
