Today, Norm Goldman Publisher & Editor of Bookpleasures.com is pleased to have as our guest Wayne Vincent Hatford author of Valentino Speaks: The Wisdom of Rudolph Valentino.

Good day Wayne and thanks for participating in our interviews

Norm:

Please tell our readers a little bit about your personal and professional background

Wayne:

In addition to writing, I've had two major careers: French and Spanish teacher in Brookline, MA public schools and general manager and personal property appraiser for an antique auction company in Redwood City, CA. Am also fluent in Italian, which I studied on my own for a number of years. I hold both a B.A. and an M.A., the latter in International Administration. In all of this, there have been no wasted efforts. Everything that's gone before has contributed to my being able to write this book.

Norm:

How did you become interested in automatic writing? As a follow up, how do you differentiate between your own philosophical musings and those of Rudolph Valentino?

Wayne:

I knew about the concept but never tried it until shortly after the death of my friend Janice. Her passing was the catalyst and what we wrote together turned into my previous book, Letters from Janice: Correspondence with the Astral Plane, published in 1987. During that process, I was amazed to discover that I seemed to be a natural for this kind of work. In terms of your second question, there is no issue. Everything in Valentino Speaks is channeled, sourced from the essence of Rudolph Valentino (with the exception of the introduction and coda) so my own philosophical musings are not in the equation. Also, most of what came through was new to me or, at the very least, a fresh point of view. Have I now been influenced by what I wrote? Yes, in the most positive of ways! That said, any future material from the essence of Rudolph Valentino will only be considered as such if it is transmitted during an automatic writing session.

Norm:

Whom do you believe will benefit from Valentino Speaks and what are your hopes for this book?

Wayne:

Anyone who is on a path of self-discovery, and I fully realize this is quite a broad statement! It's the kind of book that's designed to make people think, both about themselves and their values. My hope is that people will find it transformational, helpful in deciding how they want to live their lives. You cannot not see at least some things differently once you've read it.

Norm:

What was the most difficult part of writing your book? As a follow up, what was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your book.

Wayne:

Nothing about the actual writing was difficult. In fact, each channeling session had a sense of wonder about it. The difficult part was continually holding a vision of the final product and persevering in my efforts. Also, because channeling requires a great deal of energy, I could not do that work as often as I might have wanted to which, at times, was frustrating.

What surprised me most is how organic it all was. At certain points in the process I kept wondering how everything would fit together. But in the end it did, quite beautifully.

Norm:

Do you worry about the human race?

Wayne:

No, not at all. All of us have the ability to continually evolve and that is what I see happening, though with many fits and starts ~ hiccups you might say.

Norm:

What do you say to those individuals who are skeptical and don't believe it is possible to communicate with the dead?

Wayne:

I would suggest that it's something they are already doing, on a regular basis ~ every time they think or dream of someone who is deceased.

Norm:

What kind of research did you do to write this book?

Wayne:

I visited Valentino's birthplace, attended the Convegno Valentino (a symposium sponsored by the University of Turin film department) and read extensively about his life. In writing the introduction and coda, I wanted to make sure I had all the facts correct. Also, when the Valentino essence mentioned certain ideas, concepts and words that I was unfamiliar with, I researched them. Interestingly, it turned out that they were all right on the mark, perfect for the occasion.

Norm:

How has the feedback been so far?

Wayne:

It has been excellent and I am very pleased to know that people are finding the material of interest.

Norm:

Can you tell us how you found representation for your book? Did you pitch it to an agent, or query publishers who would most likely publish this type of book? Any rejections? Did you self-publish?

Wayne:

I was not able to find representation. I pitched it to many agents and, although some of them were interested, no one was willing to take a chance. I also queried a number of publishers, but to no avail. In the end, I self-published.

Norm:

What are you upcoming projects and where can our readers find out more about you and Valentino Speaks: The Wisdom of Rudolph Valentino?

Wayne:

The Valentino essence and I are collaborating on another writing project but this time sharing the spotlight. In other words, part of the content will be mine and part of it sourced from Valentino. The subject matter focuses on the senior experience, making the 'golden years' the most vital and vibrant they can be. For information and updates on my current and/or future projects, please go to www.valentinospeaks.com.

Norm:

As this interview draws to a close what one question would you have liked me to ask you? Please share your answer.

Wayne:

What is it like to work with the Valentino essence?

Exciting and inviting. On a personal level, it's like working with someone you've known forever.

Norm:

Thanks once again and good luck with all of your future endeavors.
