This remarkably hysterical cozy is the fourteenth mystery that focuses on Hannah Swensen who is the owner of The Cookie Jar, a coffee shop and bakery located in Lake Eden, Minnesota.

Hannah's life is going along great at this point in time; her romantic world is A-OK.  In fact, she has two beaus to choose from right now and can't for the life of her decide which one to concentrate on.  Dr. Norman Rhodes, DDS is quite attentive, but his former fiancee Dr. Bev. has come to town, and is now working as his partner in the local dental practice.  The other swain is Mike Kingston, detective, who is extremely handsome but seems to have a wandering eye where women are concerned.

Cue Hannah's best friend Claire.  Claire is newly married to the Rev. Bob Knudson, and they are desperately trying to find time away from the town in order to celebrate their honeymoon.  Aide appears in the form of Bob's childhood friend, Matthew Walters.  He's not only a friend but a minister as well, and is able to take over for Bob so he can go on spend time with his new bride.  Divine Intervention, you ask?  Could this be the perfect man who makes Hannah finally dumb both her beaus and find real love?  Well...not so much.  After a few short days in town, Matthew is found face down on his desk in a plate full of Red Devil's Food Cake - killed by a single bullet.

Hannah and her mother and sisters start looking into the case immediately and find that Matthew is not at all what he appeared to be.  Unveiled as well, is the fact that at the previous Sunday's service, someone had placed rare gold coins into the collection plate that may have been the reason behind the murder.  Along with all that information, there has also been a big jewel heist close to the town that literally all of the police are looking into.  But, Hannah, as always, is sure that she'll be able to figure out the crime and unmask the killer without the help of any of her cohorts.

As a 'cozy' fan who really enjoys the mystery and humor that this genre provides, I thought this was a great read!  In addition, the author has the instinctive talent to always set her fans up for the next book which readers will really look forward to after this.  One of the added extra treats are the fantastic recipes that appear between chapters that offer instructions to make the most delicious baked goods you can imagine.  My advice?  Enjoy this book and then go to the kitchen and make some of those truly delicious goodies.
