Today, Norm Goldman Publisher and Editor of Bookpleasures.com has the pleasure in interviewing J.B. author of Zor: Philosophy, Spirituality, and Science.

J.B. attended the cultural melting pot of Boston University in the early 70’s. Serving a contrarian nature he graduated with a major in Business Administration and a focus in philosophy/religious studies. Currently living seaside, in a picturesque New England community with his wife and son, he is convinced the movement that captured a nation in the late 60’s is very much alive.

Good day J.B. and thanks for participating in our interview.

Norm:

What would you say is the best reason to recommend someone to read Zor? Why do you think this is an important book at this time? What are your hopes for this book?

J.B.

The reviews I have received so far have been extremely positive, but one reviewer’s statement pleased me above all others; “Zor is the kind of book that leads one to read other books.” I believe that is the best reason to recommend this book. Zor is not just entertaining, it’s thought provoking.

The importance of this book lies not in the answers it provides but in the questions it generates. We have all become overly fixated on sports, politics, current events and reality T.V. Zor tries to capture the bigger picture by developing a new paradigm, a paradigm that matters to thinking people.

I expect this book will change the world. As children of the 60’s we knew we were part of something bigger than ourselves. We knew the importance of peace, love, and understanding, but somehow we lost our way. By exploring the relationship between quantum physics, spirituality, and philosophy Zor points us down that path again. We have accomplished much since the summer of love, but the best is yet to come.

Norm:

I noticed you only use your initials and there is no inclusion at the beginning or end of your book of a bio concerning yourself. Is this intentional and if so, why?

J.B.

When I was searching for an agent/publisher I was constantly questioned about my platform. There was little interest in my new book; everyone was more concerned with the number of followers and/or fans I could deliver pre-publication.

One agent even suggested I walk into a bookstore and check out all the new books. He told me I may not recognize the titles but he assured me I would recognize the pictures of every published author. It seems the publishing industry has changed; it’s become style over substance. The only books being published by the major companies these days are written by celebrities, talking heads, famous athletes, and infamous felons.

I have an interesting bio and easily could have developed a pre-publication platform, but I wanted this book to succeed on its own merit. I have no need for fame or fortune, my only desire is to see the world become a better place. Hopefully people will read the book and make life changing decisions, not because of who I am but because of what they rediscover.

Norm:

Are the two characters in your book based on people you know or have encountered or are they strictly fictional? How much of you is in Zor?

J.B.

This is an interesting question that I am frequently asked. My stock answer is, “The book is fiction, but everything in it is true.”

There are many skeptics who hope to label all spirituality authors as kooks. I don’t want to help them in that endeavor so I usually remain vague regarding my characters’ development, but I will tell that Zor was totally defined in a series of lucid dreams I had about three years ago. Jonathan, on the other hand, is a combination of many people, including myself.

Norm:

What was the most difficult part of writing your book? Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

J.B

I was surprised to discover how arduous the actual writing was. As an author you have a dozen plot lines that you expect to easily tie together while crafting an entertaining story. Writing, editing, re-writing, and re-editing ad nauseam was the bane of my existence for over two years.

Many people falsely assume researching this book was tedious when in fact the difficulty lied in getting the ideas out of my head and onto the page, in a reasonably coherent manner. I discovered I am a better story teller than I am a writer.

Norm:

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

J.B.

I have been extremely pleased with my reader’s responses. Not only have they found the story entertaining but they have found the information to be “mind expanding.” It looks like my hopes have been fulfilled; this will be a book people read more than once.

Norm:

What kind of research did you do to write Zor?

J.B.

I have always been interested in mind, body, and spirit. There was no “Zor specific” research done. The thoughts and ideas in this book have been gathered over a lifetime.

The impetus for the book was my recent realization that the three major disciplines of mankind; philosophy, spirituality, and science are in agreement, harmoniously pointing towards the same conclusion.

Norm:

Do you worry about the human race?

Not at all, I think one of the strengths of Zor is recognizing the folly in angst.

The life force, ch’i, is infinite in time and space. With or without the human race, it, (and therefore we), will always exist. Eternal life is guaranteed.

Norm:

What are your upcoming projects and how can our readers find out more about you and your book?

The short answer is, go to my web site at www.gotozor.com or check out Zor at Amazon.com.

I am in the process of interviewing publicists now; as soon as I have one, more information regarding upcoming events will be posted.

As this interview draws to a close what do you believe is the most important thought to emerge from your book?

No one can save the world but anyone can change it. If not now, when? If not here, where? If not us, who?
