Author Robin Kaye is a Romance Writers of America Golden Heart winner. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York, next door to her Sicilian grandparents, and has lived in half a dozen states from Florida to Idaho. Other titles include: Breakfast in Bed, Too Hot to Handle, and Romeo, Romeo. Robin now resides in Maryland with her husband, three children, two dogs, and a three-legged cat.

Gina Reyez doesn't have the luxury of believing in fairy tales. After growing up in a not-so-ideal childhood, she's had to fight and work for her success. When handsome and wealthy art dealer Ben Walsh shows up with a proposal that will allow her to care for her family the way she wants, she reluctantly agrees. And yet Ben seems too good to be true. He shouldn't be single. He seems as at home in Manhattan as he does in his home state of Idaho, yet is suave with impeccable taste. But her confidence in the fact that he'd never be romantically interested in her gives her the comfort she needs to go through with their crazy plan. Except by the time Gina realizes she's read Ben all wrong, it's too late to turn back. Their lives have become intertwined and seriously complicated. Throw in a eccentric grandfather, an uncooperative sister, and a series of misadventures, they've gotten themselves in one helluva mess.

The premise for this book gave me pause, if I'm being honest, as it seemed too historical for a modern contemporary, but by page ten Robin Kaye had me convinced this was going to be a great ride. My only criticism is the climactic fight toward the end which drove the conclusion home seemed anti-climactic to me. It didn't feel like enough, as I kept waiting for more of a conflict.

In saying that, Robin Kaye could write a book about a Poodle falling for an alien from Mars and make it worth the readers while. Her quirky humor, witty dialog, and gangling, bumbling characters will have readers glued to the pages to the very end. It's so refreshing to have realistic, imperfect characters that you can fall in love with. It takes a lot of talent to make the reader near tears then laughing out loud in the course of a sentence. I bow down. Highly recommended!
