It’s time for the second “Everlasting and Fantastical Adventures” of Elannah and Sam.  In this installment Elannah and Sam once again visit their secret tree house in the jungle.  The only way to arrive at the tree-house is in that special space in time where they are half asleep!  It is then and only then that they meet in their dreams.  This adventure takes place on Christmas Eve!  Elannah and Sam are very excited for the magic and joy of Christmas.  Sam is especially excited for Santa and presents!  When the children arrive in dream land they set off to visit Rodger the badger and unknowingly start another everlasting and fantastical adventure when they learn that the Bridge Troll has never celebrated Christmas!

The children decide to throw him a splendiferous surprise party to celebrate the Christmas spirit.  As they travel through
Avalanche Gulley to pick out a tree, visit Grumpspawn the wizard, help the dwarfs at the Mine of Abundance, and finally visit the Petal Princess, they secure all the items needed to make the surprise party a success.  With helpful hands, open hearts and magical surprise, Trolls first Christmas is sure to be a success, especially with the surprise of two very special guests!

I really enjoyed this action and adventure novel.  A First Christmas was full of fanciful, imaginative and heartwarming action events that shared the joy of Christmas with Troll and all his friends.  In this book everyone works together to share the special magic of Christmas, remembering that the Christmas spirit is one of giving to others and not receiving.  Along the way the children learn lessons from each stop on their journey.  The author also gives a gentle reminder of the dream land by having the children remember events that have happened while they were awake.  These events are similar to events that happen while they are dreaming, keeping the book a fresh fanciful dreamland with a magical touch.

I would recommend this book for young readers ages 8-12 who like action/adventure novels.  The book is thirteen chapters and 148 pages.  Children who like books such as “Harry Potter” would most likely enjoy this fanciful story which includes wizards, trolls, woodland animals, dwarfs, goblins and a petal princess.  The book uses British English, but none of the words are far off the American English word making the book easy to understand, while providing a little culture.  It is a wonderful reminder that Christmas is about giving and enjoying the process in the mean time!
