Reviewer Amy Lignor: Amy is the author of a historical fiction novel entitled The Heart of a Legend, and Mind Made, a work of science fiction. Presently, she is writing an adventure series set in the New York Public Library, as well as a teen fiction series, The Angel Chronicles. She is an avid traveler and has been fortunate to have journeyed across the USA, where she has met the most amazing people, who truly bring life and soul to her books. She lives in the Land of Enchantment (for now) with her gorgeous daughter, Shelby, her wonderful Mom, Mary, and the greatest friend and critic in the entire world - her dog, Reuben
Author: Jacquelyn Frank
With every series that Ms. Frank has offered to her legions of fans, she seems to have gotten better and better with each one (if that’s at all possible). I, for one, have always been a fan of the stories that make up the series’The Nightwalkers; The Shadowdwellers; and, The Gatherers. Each and every character has been unforgettable and the passion that they inspire truly makes for great stories!
Reule is the Prime (the leader) of a Pack of beings who drink blood. Now…wait a minute…they are NOT vampires. Reule’s “family” is called the Sange, and they actually NEED to drink the blood of their mates. Kind of an odd way to “bond,” but, alas, that’s the way it is for the Sange. (Anything in the name of love, I suppose)
Now the Sange tribe has very special powers – they are telepathic. When a pack member is in trouble, Reule and the rest of his Pack mount a search and rescue mission and, while saving their cohort, the pack stumbles across a woman by the name of Mystique. She is actually hiding out from the enemies of the Sangre tribe known as the Jackals.
Unfortunately for Mystique, she is suffering from amnesia and Reule feels strangely protective of the beautiful woman who has no idea what’s going on around her. He’s completely honorable, as always, and brings her back to his home in order to make ensure her safety. What Reule doesn’t know is that Mystique has a very special gift of her own; she’s a healer, and quickly becomes invaluable to the Sangre tribe.
Reule finds himself, for the first time ever, completely thrown by a female. Usually so completely dominant and self-assured, Mystique has the ability to make him feel confused, aroused…beside himself in all ways. The only thing he seems to know for sure is that he never wants Mystique to be away from him.
There is so much to tell you about this book, plot-wise, but I want to give absolutely nothing away. Because, as always when it comes to Ms. Frank, this is one that you will want to have on your home bookshelf. I know, I know…everyone who reads my reviews knows that I’m not usually pleased with anything that drinks blood. The constant flow of novels regarding vampires and blood drinkers that have saturated the marketplace since old Edward arrived on the scene, has left me with a headache the size of Greenland. But you must understand this, dear readers, Ms. Frank has been thrilling audiences with her passion, mysticism, sensuality – everything – since before Jacob was a pup, or Edward was even a blip in Meyer’s eye. J This woman absolutely knows her stuff!! Enjoy!
