Mrs. Pinkelmeyer is making her famous Rrrrump Rrrroast, when she receives a phone call from a lady in New York City! Being from England and having never left, Mrs. Pinkelmeyer has no clue who her mysterious caller could be but stops wondering when she hears a boy crying in the background. When she discovers the little boy is missing his parents, she asks to speak with him and attempts to make him forget his troubles by telling him all about her day. After Henry forgets all about his sadness due to Mrs. Pinkelmeyer’s accent and hilarious stories, they hang up. It is then that Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus discover her mistake and her burnt rump roast!

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and her dog Moopus are the perfect antidote for a sad child. This book made me smile throughout. The story is silly enough to delight children of all ages, especially those who are younger. I really enjoyed the full page drawings on each new page span. The pictures were colorful and imaginative yet silly. They bring a smile to your face on their own!

Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus McGliden Burn the Rrrrump Rrrroast is a funny, charming and silly story aimed to help young children who might have parents going on a trip or who will be absent temporarily for any reason. I especially thought of military children while reading this book but it would also work well for children who have parents who travel for business. I look forward to reading more of Mrs. Pinkelmeyer and Moopus’s adventures and would suggest this book for children ages two – eight.
