The aging process; it sounds distasteful, doesn’t it? Just using the word aging, most people will pass the book over! No one going through the aging process wants to be reminded of it!

Jeanne Kraus and her illustrator sister, Diana Arneson may have turned that around. The two individuals have come together to give us a book that “finds humor” of the aging process; making everyday things seem altogether less traumatic and noticeably humorous, for a change.

Jeanne Kraus, the author, has been an elementary educator for over 30 years. She has been writing since she was a teen-ager. Currently, she is a reading specialist in a south Florida elementary school. A lifelong writer, she has written two children’s books, which are published by Magination Press. She is also working on a sequel to Wrinkles, Waistlines, and Wet Pants. Jeanne has done years of public humor speaking at special events and has written speeches, poems, scripts, raps, songs, and essays for various events.

Although the book’s back cover states that the book won’t change you in any way, I have to think it may change your outlook on aging and the process in which we may go through …eventually. The author indeed disproves the theory that fifty is the new thirty with anecdotes in every chapter and don’t forget to check out the useless surveys included. Jeanne is quick to point out that not everyone suffers from the same aging ailments that she does; and that those people can be quite annoying!

I found this book to be quite witty and humorous. Everyone has funny things in their life! I can appreciate the gift of finding that humor and putting it out there for all to examine.

I especially found Chapter 22, Make More Time in Your Life, to be delightful! First, the list that compares the time JK spends on things and the time HMC (high maintenance chick) spends on the same activities. Between the savings of all that maintenance time by JK and the exercise in the casino; I couldn’t stop laughing. She states, “The whole atmosphere is loud –clanging bells, whistles, and elderly people with hearing aids shouting to each other amid the casino buzz. This is great stimulation to keep the blood pumping to the heart.” “Risk taking is part of the culture at this age. Not only do we go to casinos, we cross streets in the middle of the block, pass gas in public, and wear fanny packs and visible knee-high stockings in public without fear of ridicule.”

I dare you to read it without laughing!
