Award-winning author Cynthia Eden writes paranormal romances and romantic suspense novels. She is currently very busy writing her stories for Grand Central Publishing and Kensington Brava. She has always wanted to write, and particularly enjoys creating stories about monsters–vampires, werewolves, and even the real-life monsters that populate her romantic suspense stories. Cynthia graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Alabama where she studied Sociology and Communication.  Cynthia has worked as a college admissions counselor, a teacher, and as an editor. Other titles include: Eternal Hunter, Midnight Sins, and Hotter After Midnight, with Deadly Lies and Deadly Heat as part of this series coming out next year.

FBI Special Agent Monica Davenport has made a career out of profiling serial killers after first-hand experience in getting inside their heads. But being inside the deranged minds of the sadistic has taken a toll, forcing impenetrable walls around her from the world. Now, Luke Dante has been brought onto their team, the only man who ever broke through her defenses. Reunited to catch a murderer, who uses his victims' deepest rooted fears for fun, they seem to make the perfect team, but it's not enough. The killer knows all about their past, and now wants them to play his sick game. Together, they must face what scares them most, if they want to live to have a future together.

The only negative to this book, which is more preference really, is the author's use of power, and/or, short sentences. At times there were just too many, enough for me to remember for notation.

This is the first book by this author for me, and it won't be the last. With a perfect blend of romance and suspense, this book will have you dying to turn the page. This will also tug at your heartstrings. As if getting into the mind of a crazy serial isn't enough, the clever and creepy mind games he plays will have chills up your spine. Perfectly set in Virginia, the author dumps you right into the setting, feeling the characters fears and sensing what surrounds them. The hero and heroine were vivid, flaws and all, and the barrage of secondary characters propelled the plot. I was very pleased to learn that Kenton is the hero in the next book for this series. Loved him. You may or may not see the villain's identity coming, but you won't want to stop reading. Highly recommended!
