Kate White is a pro when it comes to thrills and chills, and Hush reminds us that this writer has skills sharper than a serial killer's blade.

In this book, the author brings us into the world of IVF - in-vitro fertilization clinics and the strange goings on between patients and staff.  Our main character is Lake Warren.  She's a woman who is struggling through a divorce.  Her husband, Jack, has left her and their two children for another woman, and as we begin our story, Lake is just starting to get over the fact that he's decided to live another life.  Until...the phone rings.  Her lawyer tells her come downtown immediately where she is told that Jack is going to sue for sole custody of their kids.  The advice of the lawyer?  Lay low, do nothing out of the ordinary, be very responsible, and absolutely no men.  As far as the lawyer is concerned, Lake needs to make sure that she doesn't give the judge any reason to award the children to her ex.

Lake throws herself into her job at the fertility clinic; she is a marketing specialist that is putting together a campaign for them to increase business.  She loves to go to work every day.  It takes her mind off the troubles she's having in her private life.  Most all the workers at the clinic are just as nice as they can be.  There are two doctors in charge who are very professional, as well as one woman who is more "military" than doctor - like a female Jekyll and Hyde.  There is also a couple of nurse/assistants who are sweet and want to include Lake in their conversations, as well as one named Brie, who is a reminder that Nurse Hatchett is not only a literary character but is very real, and lives within the walls of the fertility clinic.

One night, Lake receives an extremely strange call at home.  It is a "hang-up" that scares her to her very core and she immediately calls the camp in the Catskills where her children are enjoying their summer to make sure that they're okay.  Not only does the call make her skin tingle, but the new doctor who is moving from California to be a part of the clinic in New York is absolutely handsome and charming.  His name is Dr. Keaton, and somehow - against all her better instincts - Lake finds herself in his arms during a one-night stand scenario.  As the evening comes to a close, Lake wakes up beside him and saunters out onto the deck of his luxury penthouse apartment...and falls asleep.  When she awakens, she walks back into the bedroom to find the young, handsome Doctor dead...in a pool of blood.

Lake runs.  She can't call the police.  She knows that what happened will make her THE person of interest, and she'll end up losing her children in the custody battle.  Not only that, but there are strange things happening at the clinic.  Secrets begin to unravel, notes are found in patients' files, and Lake finds herself caught up in one of the most horrendous mysteries she could ever imagine.  This author does a wonderful job, as always, of keeping the readers on their toes.  Not only must Lake join up with an investigative reporter to find the killer, but she must do so while being stalked for reasons she will never understand until the climactic end.

You will enjoy every page!
