Everyone wants happiness, success, and peace of mind. In “Secrets from the Sofa,” Dr. Herman provides a step-by-step proven approach to change and achievement.
Dr. Herman is a retired psychologist who practiced clinically for over 45 years. He first explains why people are not happy and the “parental traps.” When we learn why we may not be happy and the baggage that we might be carrying around, it is less difficult to shape ourselves into the peaceful, happy, and successful person we truly want to be.
Once we have identified a few things, we learn how to have courage to change. People are often resistant to change – staying in the dead-end job, abusive relationship, or in other relationships that are not good for us. Once we have courage, Dr. Herman offers “the peace plan” and ways to put that plan into action.
At some point in time, we must confront our feelings, know how to avoid the peace plan stumbling blocks, and learn how to deal with emotions. Dr. Herman helps us to become our own psychologist, in a way, by helping us to understand and how to deal with depression, anxiety, guilt, anger, and stress.
There are work sheets to help each step of the way, which I found very helpful. Putting everything on paper where I can see the plan (and be able to look back and see my progress) was encouraging.
Self-image is important to most everyone. Understanding and be able to change our self-image is no easy task. However, with determination and “Secrets from the Sofa,” the mission is less complicated.
