A Different Kind of Hero tells the story about a monkey called Tomagochi as well as two other animals - Peshe the tiger and Mocho the tucan.
The three-some are talking one day in the lush green forest they all love so much about how special everyone is. Tomagochi feels so sad, Peshe has a bright stripy tail and Mocho a lovely rainbow coloured beak. So dazzling and beautiful, each of these friends but Tomagochi, so he thinks, has nothing. No stripy tail and certainly no dazzling colourful beak. He is simply a monkey - a boring, plain monkey.
Suddenly the three animals hear a noise - there are horrible men with axes and bulldozers who have come to destroy their green home.
Mocho, bewildered, flies off and Peshe runs to find a hiding place. He tells the monkey to come with him if he wishes to stay safe but Tomagochi has other ideas and decides it’s time to do something!
Will he be able to ward off the horrible workmen and ensure the future of the rainforest?
This book has wonderful illustrations and a story that teaches children the values of individuality - that each and every one of us is special in our own way.
It is these kinds of books that shape what your child will grow into. No doubt, by you reading this book to them, your kids will grow up believing in themselves.
I wish this had been around when I was young. I have read many books at an age where I was easily influenced but I don’t think I have ever read a book quite like this one. I’m certain I would have very much enjoyed it at a tender age, not only for the truly excellent illustrations, but also the storyline where the animals conquer the humans!
The style of the book is easy-to-read and if you don’t read it to your children, they can easily read it for themselves and in so doing will have a great deal of fun. Imagine what new words they will discover with the benefit of this picture book.
With an attractive front cover and storyline, this should certainly appeal to both parents and children. Wonderful and magic!
