You do not have to read this book at Christmas time for the lesson in love that it offers. Clay Williams is a classic workaholic. Never without a beeper and constantly in demand at work, he seldom has time for his family. The carrot dangled before him, the promise of a promotion, pushes him forward. He is drifting away from the people who love him most; his wife Tara, and his two children, Natalie and Chris.

While taking a respite and quail hunting on his uncle’s wooded property, he happens upon a small abandoned cemetery. It appears that an entire family is buried here, all dying so early in life, two of them mere children. Each of the four gravestones is marked "Gone But Not Forgotten", words that will haunt Clay and lead him on a journey of discovery. Driven to learn more about the family, Clay delves deep into the past to unveil the mystery surrounding the forlorn cemetery. What Clay discovers will change his life forever.

Mr. Wilmes has penned a book that the reader will not soon forget. His characters are real and believable. With attention to detail and vivid descriptions, you are drawn into the book that not once wanes in keeping your attention. Reading this book gave me chills and will forever touch my heart. Don’t wait till Christmas to read it!

It is remarkable that anyone could have lived to the unbelievable age of one hundred and eighteen. Watkins’ well-crafted work of fiction focuses on an African American, who was born five years after the Civil War. At the age of eighteen, Tippy is forced to leave his family, after being...
