What is the key to becoming happy? I suppose that is something most people want to know. Can money buy happiness? It can if you get this really excellent book that teaches you the steps to becoming totally content.
The introduction to this book is intriguing and had me hooked. The author is heading towards the foothills of the Himalayas in the back of an ancient flatbed truck. She hopes that somehow she will find a way of enjoying the kind of happiness the Himalayan villagers seem to have.
She notes: “Here were people who had no electricity or running water, living on the bare minimum with no creature comforts. Yet there was a lightness of spirit, a sense of humour and an easy friendliness about them that was remarkable. They were simply happy from the inside out.”
These people who are pretty much living in poverty still have lots to smile about - happiness radiates from each of them. So can the rest of us achieve their inner happiness too? If you take a moment to read on, you’ll realise you don’t “have to have happy genes, win the lottery or become a saint”. This book is quite honestly all you will ever need.
The author points out some shocking statistics. One in five American women are on anti-depressants and more men each year are taking this type of medication too.
With a nation like this is there really any hope?
We explore every happiness myth there possibly is inside Happy For No Reason.
Will owning a Mercedes SL600 really make you happy? This is an answer to a question the author put on a test to participants.
The author really questions, would it actually give you long-lasting happiness?
I don’t myself believe that any form of materialized possessions will do so. The happiness they bring is actually only momentary. It doesn’t last forever.
For example the author explains about her success with Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul. Although it became a New York Times bestseller and despite achieving her dream, she never really felt truly happy. And so began the quest for happiness and the inspiration behind this book.
I found Happy For No Reason very inspiring and easy to read. It is chaptered from 1 to 10 in a section of three parts. I found myself completely hooked and I’m sure if you wish to know the key to long-lasting happiness you will be too.
Included are stories from people who have their own tales of happiness to tell. Most have a happy ending with wise words of encouragement.
Read this now and you might discover that you are happier than you thought..
