The main goal set by the authors/editors of Timeless Reflections, An
Empowered Belief of Meditation, is ". to empower people's lives through
the power of meditation." To this end, Cathy L. Kaiser and Jackie
McCormick have put together an inspiring and unique spiritual compendium
of poetry and prose which draws from their own experiences as well as
those of many other contributors.

Intensely personal, Section I contains stories that reveal the
difficulties which both Kaiser and McCormick have faced: Kaiser has
suffered from both addiction and health problems, and McCormick is
likewise beset by health issues. In fact, the lengthy process of
overcoming their various challenges seems to have provided the authors
with their primary inspiration for writing Timeless Reflections. This is
a good thing for the reader, as the wisdom which the authors have
attained from the School of Hard Knocks can benefit us all.

Section II, on the other hand, leaves the reader wanting a bit more than
is delivered. Because while the quality of the essays therein are
adequately descriptive when it comes to detailing various meditation
techniques, the book is, after all, sub-titled "An Empowered Belief of
Meditation". Thus, one expects the topic to be treated more thoroughly
than the 55 of 313 total pages it is afforded.

Instead, one feels that the confessional essays and inspirationals of
Section I were intended to be the centerpiece of the book. Indeed, it is
Section I which contains the most powerful stories. But the reviewer's
opinion is that Section IV, which contains 100 poems written by various
authors and which covers such diverse topics as prayer, butterflies, God
and coffee, contains the most interesting writing. Throughout this
section, numerous poets employ various voices and styles, all of which
embody a common positivity that shines engagingly through.

When approached with an open mind, Timeless Reflections can provide a
great deal of inspiration, encouragement and wisdom - this is the book's
chief contribution. But taken as a how-to guide to meditation, in the
reviewer's opinion it falls somewhat short of empowering the reader.
