I’ve always had a keen interest for things paranormal so this book appealed to me on many levels.
Melissa Van Rossum is a physic who has seen ghosts for most of her life. Growing up became difficult for her because family and friends often perceived her as “odd.” They simply didn’t understand what she could see and as an adolescent Rossum herself didn’t even have a name for what she was. She only took experience of how her identity affected her and soon became depressed. She felt very ashamed she was unlike the rest of her family and became emotionally exhausted from hiding her feelings or in fact, what she saw. However when she reached 29 there seemed to be hope for her and gradually she was assured she had a very, very special gift indeed.
This book chronicles all of her stories about the ghosts she has seen and how she helped to show them “their way home”.
Many tales in here are amazing to read and a small part of me is beginning to believe there may be such a thing as a ghost.
One story really touched me, The Teen Who Tried to Come Back to Life. Rossum describes how she saw a teenage girl waiting for her in her basement. She was lying face down on the floor crying in complete despair. She wanted so desperately to come back to life and had tried everything in order to do so.What help could Rossum offer this poor child? Read to find out. I found it all very moving indeed.
Behind every ghost is a story they wish to tell (or not). Another really sad one features two ghost babies in a bath. What were two little babies doing as ghosts? They should have been just at the start of their life instead it had been cruelly taken away from them in a horrific incident.
I can’t say I envy Rossum of her gift. Sometimes what she has to deal with must be tough but at least she is there to help these troubled souls and guide them to peace.
At the end of this book I felt so pleased to have read it. I know if I were to be a ghost she’d help me and show me the way home. Probably one of the best psychic books I’ve read for a long time.
