The war in Iraq has now been going on for so many years it has become a constant fight for power and a battle that has taken many innocent lives.
I started to get into Chuck Bravedy’s book but I was disappointed to find I was suddenly already half way through. It seemed a little too short for a memoir but having said that it held some of Bravedy’s fascinating accounts which proved gripping. Chuck writes this mini-memoir with first hand experience since serving in Iraq. Though Chuck doesn’t give too much detail away, his accounts are excellently written.
If you have ever paid attention to the war in Iraq, which I’m sure many of you have, and want to read a veteran’s account, then Chuck doesn’t disappoint. He tells it as it is, his theories always speaking out from the page. For instance, Chuck believes that the Koran, which is the religious text of Islam, should be replaced with The Bible. Of course this wouldn’t work. Would it ever? I wonder what this will make other readers think.
It is very interesting to see how religions are different to other nations. The Koran is paid close attention by the Muslims who believe this book to be the divine guidance and messages for mankind. I wonder if it really would make any difference if our Bible was placed instead of Koran. Would these people change? Would they want to?
We learn the values of Iraq as Chuck talks us through his Navy SEAL training to the actual moment he and others are enrolled in missions that require the highest endurance. Despite the ruthless, open environment, the need to fight is great, as is the need to defend one country against the other and hopefully find a way to pull out our troops. Money is always the bottom line but the search for ways to end to this restless war is still very much alive.
Chuck is a very open and honest person, with clear views on what America should be doing and what its role is in the war against Iraq. What makes a terrorist? Everyone is watched closely with an eye of an eagle.
“America can win in the war and we should all support our government in this area” the author states. Perhaps this is true, but if we should be finding ways to end such a war why not pull our troops out now and declare peace? Read on and find out Chuck’s opinions.
A good book that engrosses the reader from the start although will everyone agree with his views? Which ever way you look at it, this is still a good memoir to read which may help give you a better understanding of what really goes on in the conflict between these countries. A must read for many.
