Have you ever wondered what our animals think of us? Or maybe what they think of each other? This book answers all those questions from how to bath cats (do you dare?) to what your cat is really telling you when it’s staring at the cupboard.
Also included in part one of this book, are quotes and sayings from famous names and also anonymous people. Perhaps the quote “Dogs have owners. Cats have staff” sums up just what a cat is about. It is not just a cute, furry animal but also a feline that thinks very highly of itself. Why? Maybe because cats were said to be great rulers back in the Egyptian times.
How do you determine if you’re a catoholic? Inside this book Ian gives a list of questions, if you answer yes to just one of them, that is enough to qualify you as a catoholic.
I thought the questions were absolutely hilarious, one of which is: Have you often slept on the very edge of the bed so that you won’t disturb the cat who’s sleeping in the very middle? I think I can safely answer a yes to that question myself…I wonder if you can!
The chapter Cats and Teenagers is another highly amusing one, filled with excellent comparisons to our feline friends and teenagers. For instance if you call a cat by its name it will not often turn its head in response, the same happens with teenagers. Or here is another: No cat or teenager will share your taste in music.
There is a follow up chapter Cats and Dogs and Teenagers. Read this and laugh.
There are also jokes like the one about a buttered piece of bread combined with the myth that cats always manage to land on their feet. . .I wonder what would happen if you strapped some buttered bread face up on the back of a cat. Read this and find out!
Now maybe you’re a dog person….well don’t worry all you dog lovers the other part of this book is dedicated to dogs.
The best friend a man (or woman) can ever have in life is a dog. Dogs love you forever, no matter what. When ever you are feeling down, you can count on the dog to bring a smile back to your face. They are faithful, loving animals with more intelligence then that of a cat. They can give you their paw, guard your house from intruders and when they wag their tail at you they do it because they are happy, not cross like a cat.
There are many great chapters in this book about dogs from Why It’s Great To Be a Dog to Quotable Quotes. One quote I thought was marvellous and observant is “Ever consider what they (dogs) must think of us? I mean, when we come back from a grocery store with the most amazing haul - chicken, pork, half a cow. They must think we’re the greatest hunters on earth!” How very true!!!
That is just one of the many quotes in this chapter that should make you laugh and have a moment where you think “oh yeah!”
Basic Rules for Dogs is a hilarious chapter on what our K9 friends really think of the usual stuff we leave lying around - newspapers for example mean to dogs what toilets mean to humans. And flowerbeds just act as a skid barrier for dogs. Maybe that will explain why your dog chooses to skid into your newly planted flowers!
I could go on but I won’t. If you love dogs or cats or like me, if you just love animals altogether, buy this book. You cannot go far wrong. Meow!
